I want to give a huge applause to some volunteers who helped with transport, coordination of foster care and the adoption process of several dogs this last week. Heidi Downing-Butcher, THANK YOU for all of the time you donated to help with transportation and placement. These pups are in a better place because of all of you.

This little girl is Emma and the little boy is Pig. They are siblings.
They are very sweet and intelligent border Collies. They are excited about their new pasture and shelter. Plenty of room to run and fresh air, perhaps different than their recent situation. They have both been tested for drive and it is very clear that Pig has a high drive as he took crouch position when I walked him by the pasture with the sheep. They are a little bit nervous but they come out of their shell pretty quickly and I believe they're going to make incredible working dogs. The right person could also turn them and do loving companion dogs. Given there was some space for them to run and some commitment to general obedience training. I don't know what they're inside habits are and I'm not sure how readily they know their names but they seem very willing to love and to learn. Please private message me about adoption. Bozeman

For about 7 years, I have been buying Dorcy flashlights. They are incredible when I am out in the pitch black of morning or the pitch black of night. Keeping an eye on the many dogs that we have sanctuary for as well as those we raise. This is Yeti. A 2 1/2 yo Great Pyrenees. He is savvy with livestock and pigs. Haven't introduced him to poultry yet, but who knows. He is very affectionate and playful with humans and female dogs. I don't risk introducing him to males so that is an unknown. He is very respectful of defense line and does not try to escape, he is a good guardian. He is neutered enough to date on shots. As you know many dogs have been surrendered after folks returned to work from Covid adoptions. We have a huge amount of surrender requests and as a result enormous dog food bills.

This is Pyper. She is an incredibly loving and warm dog. She's obedience trained, house trained, spayed and is just a giant lover who likes to play lots. Unfortunately she is female dog aggressive, meaning she does not like other females at all and sees them as a threat. I think a large male partner might be a good play partner, but that is unconfirmed but she never seems to look twice and is friendly towards males. She desperately needs a home where there is a fence because she is respectful of the fence line, and where she can feel like she has a guarding duty. She is not livestock savvy, I'm not sure I would introduce her at this late stage. But she will make one heck of a good guardian to a nice couple and she is also friendly with kids. This is Harley. He is a 2-year-old, neutered male, full-blooded Maremma Sheepdog. He loves being with the livestock, he is wonderful with people, he takes his job seriously but he also as you can see loves to play and jump around. He doesn't hurt the poultry in spite of him chasing the ducks in the video. He's very joyful, and definitely is not a residential dog. He is used to having a job to do so a farm or a ranch or a sheep herder a goat herd would be good for him. He gets along with my male Maremma and my female Maremma and has a pretty stable existence with them. FYI TO ANYONE WORRIED ABOUT THE DUCKS AND POULTRY, HE IS TOTALLY HARMLESS AND JUST EXCITED TO SEE ME. NEVER HEARD A SINGLE BIRD EVER PLEASE REFRAIN FROM NEGATIVE COMMENTS. Two 8 year old gals who now show life and love every day now. They were both tired and hung their heads low when the arrived. What a beautiful transformation and a wonderful new friendship.
Yesterday I took this video. I've watched it a couple times because it makes me reflect on things we're doing right. Journey, the chocolate lab was terribly anxious and aggressive towards people and dogs when we got her, Andolyn, the Great Pyrenees was a typical guardian born and bred and also guarded with other dogs, the puppy, Smalls, was a rescue left in the woods to die at two weeks old. Look at them now, frolicking in the grass with not a care in the world. Having a sanctuary style rescue helps dogs be dogs. Pastures for play, pastures with livestock and exposure to the fresh air and mountains. We don't lock them up in cages and make them more anxious and upset.

Greetings to all you dog lovers,
As many of you know Montana Dog Rescue has taken in, socialized, decompressed and homed over 120 dogs as rescues in the past three years. We have also been a foster for Great Pyrenees Rescue Montana and have helped decompress, nurture to health and helped home over 20 foster dogs in the last 12+months. Going forward we are moving away from fostering for GPRM and will only operate as we did previously, independently. This is Harry. He is a purebred Maremma Sheepdog. For whatever reason Harry was on his way to the vet to take the long walk over the rainbow bridge, we were his last ditch effort to straighten him out. Harry would arch his back, show his teeth and lunge at me with the intent of taking flesh and this happened repeatedly for three to four weeks. As you can see we have reached the inner Harry and we are now on our way to happiness. We don't know if he'll ever be safe to rehome, but we may have to treat him as a happy sanctuary dog forever. Next step is to get him out of the pasture for a ride. I may get bit yet?
