We took Bella adopted from Save The Horses & Geronimo adopted from Second Chance Stables, Inc to Addington Place Nursing Home in Alpharetta for a magical Christmas party with the senior residents 🐴🎁
Our own Betty, Teresita and Andrew, all in their 70s, wanted to share the healing power of animals with other seniors. Earlier this year, they launched the Seniors for Seniors program, welcoming local seniors at partnering facilities to our farm to visit our rescues☺️ But saddened that less mobile residents couldn’t make the trip, we decided to bring equine therapy to them this Christmas 🐴❤️
The folks at Addington Place loved Bella & Geronimo, and these once unwanted rescue horses loved being adored and appreciated🥰 That’s what it’s all about: sharing the love 💕

At Joyous Acres in Milton, a rescue that started as a family pastime is bringing the healing power of animals to local elders.
Animals have their own plans for life. Pigs dream and make future plans and are ranked as intelligent as chimpanzees. Yet they are kept in sheds and have no enrichment or sources of joy in their lives. We know better, we must do better!

This could have been our own rescued Mustang Onaqui who we adopted from Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC - he landed there after being removed by authorities from an abusive home where pasturemates starved to death. 💔 Let’s do better 🙏🏽
Wild horses are protected by law.
But some get rounded up and put up for adoption, and their new owners are allowed to sell the animals after a year.
That can put them on a path to the slaughterhouse.
An NBC News investigation found several horses with federal freeze brands — identifying symbols marked on the horses’ necks after they get rounded up — being sold in online advertisements posted by kill pens in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Documents obtained via a federal records request show that the brand numbers on those horses match federal adoption paperwork.

Please welcome our newest rescues Midnight & Susie 2 adopted from Feral Cat Program of Georgia pictured here with Teresita. ❤️ It has been several weeks since our dear Susie disappeared. Penny seemed very lonely so we decided to bring in some friends Susie 2 is believed to be related to the original Susie. Though no one will ever replace her, it gives us comfort to know that Penny has company and that were able to provide a home to more animals in need.

We are so devastated. It has been about one week since our beloved rescue cat 🐱 Susie went missing. A barn cat adopted from Feral Cat Program of Georgia she was free to roam in and out of the barn and would sometimes wander, but always come back to happily play with her friends of all species. 🐶🐷🐴 We are very concerned because her companion cat, Penny, appeared to have chunks of fur missing. Penny appears very sad and a bit traumatized. We do have coyotes roaming the woods on our farm, and we fear we may never see Susie again. We are praying for her, and so grateful for the love and beautiful memories she brought to our lives🙏🏽

Transformed 🦄💫Watching Teresita w/ Onaqui the Mustang adopted from Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC it is hard to believe that this is the same fearful, reactive traumatized horse who, two years ago, pushed Andrew to the ground, jumped over him and cut Andrew’s head with his hoof. It was a terrifying injury that made us wonder whether we could ever manage this horse. But we didn’t not give up on him.Thousands of mustangs are estimated to be sent to slaughter every year after enduring helicopter roundups which separate them from their families & leave some injured. Many more like Onaqui land in abusive homes. And in Onaqui’s case, he watched pasture mates die of starvation before being seized by authorities and taken to a rescue.💔 Considering all that, who could blame him for being scared?What you see today is a gentle, loving sweet soul who finally feels safe and lived.
