To say this coat challenged me would be the understatement of the century. I don't remember how many times I had to seem rip. Why you ask? Well I chose a stretch velvet for the edging and with it being slick, and stretchy, sewing it was rather a nightmare. 😅 The first issue I had was it kept stretching out so it made it elastic like and bunch in. Well THAT wouldn't do!

So I made my way down to the local sewing store and got myself a "walking foot" it helps equalize pressure and grab fabric to avoid stretching. It work awesome. For like...one go. And then my machine decided it HATED IT. Like...she wouldn't work. She kept freezing on me. I was about to just burn the whole place down. I'm not even joking.

My next nightmare was that despite all the pinning in the world, I could not for the life of me get the edging on straight. And with the walking foot making my machine want to blowup, that was no longer an option.

Thankfully I found the solution in iron on hem tape. That stuff literally saved me from a spiraling depression. Thankfully the rest went smoothly after that but in case you are wondering. No, I will no longer be using stretch velvet for coats. So please don't ask. 😂

Hey everyone! Just wanted to touch base and let you know that things will be a bit sporadic over the next week and a half. We are working on moving into a new house (yay!) So packing and prepping for that is taking the front seat at the moment. For those of you with orders in the works, I appreciate your patience! Things will get back on schedule soon. :)
