Toby says "Happy Sunday!"
I couldn't quite figure out why he was having such a hard time performing his "spin" behavior, it's something he offers often both on and off cue. He was doing just fine without treats when I wasn't recording him -- he actually wouldnt stop spinning. When I was recording, he all of a sudden started to second guess and offer different behaviors.
Then it hit me...it's the phone. He isn't used to having the phone out and asked for his spin behavior. The addition of the phone is the only context that changed.
In order to help Toby succeed, I added in a treat and a lure to help him understand what I was asking for.
This week he and I will be working on getting him used to performing behaviors when the phone is in my hand, pointing towards him.

Toby enjoying his new Kong Wobbler! Toby loves to use his paws, making this one of his favorite activities. It provides mental stimulation too, which helps get rid of some of his crazy puppy energy!

Jake is a little unsure about novel objects, so instead of climbing into a box (and out of his comfort zone) I found him a smaller box and tossed cheerios in!

When working with more than one dog in a household, it's important to keep the dog you aren't working with occupied. This can be done by tossing treats in another direction or by giving them a stuffed Kong in another room. Be aware of your dogs food preferences...if they guard their food, keep each dog separate while training so no disagreements occur.

Include all members of the household, especially if they want to be included! You may have to modify the activity a bit, but it'll sure be rewarding for the other pets! 🐶🐱

Miss Mellie demonstrating two of her new skills! She has struggled with the movement and noise the hula hoop makes, so each time we start with it touching the ground and slowly bring it off the ground!

Here is Buddy enjoying his new treat puzzle! Sometimes dog parents forget to provide both physical and mental stimulation (for example walks and training). Treat puzzles are great for busy dog parents that don't always have time to provide mental stimulation. They're fun too!
Pupdate! After working on checking in and paying attention to his walker, Buddy is doing great keeping the leash loose while walking!
