This legend came in 6th at the Australian Eventing Championships at Wandin Park International this weekend!

Still a lot to work on, but he’s so great to work with! That big scary XC did not phase him in the slightest! Improvements improvements improvements in his dressage and clear (though not always neat) Showjumping round.

Thanks to organisers and Eventing Victoria for helping us all chase these wild dreams.

Great weekend with baby horses at Wandin Park International - Australian Eventing Championships. Alles Sterensrof (Alice) was a joy to take to her biggest event yet. Wow o does Wandin turn it on, and UP! Amazing event and a favorite on our calendar!

Lovely flowing dressage from Alice, showing even more improvements in transitions and stronger canter work and today a super smooth and powerful SJ round. Her only hiccup a soft stop at the trakahner on XC in between. She finished 11th in a big field. Work to do but so much potential yet, she’s such a ripper!

Is King going to rule supreme or is baby Alice going to slip in some stardust ✨ to keep things interesting? Both in the same class. It’s been quiet on the comp front for Tiahn Eventing at NVEquestrian over these last few weeks during the super stressful university exam period, but that gives us time to celebrate the wonderful “behind the scenes” work done by the wider team. Lots of observation and thoughtful care is absolutely essential to the overall health, progress and success of the whole team. (Yeah, we know how much you absolutely detest photos Callum 😂) We can’t begin to express the depth of gratitude we have for the support and we totally appreciate that we can’t do any of this without you! ❤️ Having stylish, practical and hard wearing supporter gear from owayo to get around the work is a bonus these days too! The past weekend at squad was cruisy with this crew. King was giving a great ride after he calmed his mind, nothing phased him and managed to put some challenging lines together really well. The babies, Alice and Tucker were simply stellar too! ✨

Big thanks to Nina and Yona for terrific coaching and to Janet and Vanessa, as always, for organising these terrific squad sessions so brilliantly. Please know you are appreciated ❤️ - for your hard work and for your warm, friendly, very “human” approach.

Super cool, quick dry material and exceptional quality - this gear is so incredibly well made. Took much longer to decide exactly what design was wanted than it did to get manufactured and shipped! Werribee HT was a hoot with the babies this weekend! A few costume changes with Tucker in the Open and Alice in the PC sections meant the stand in strapper, Michael, got a workout.

TUCKER: His FIRST ever HT and with only one XC training with us prior it was always going to be a bit of an unknown learning journey. What a cracking performance he put on though! Calm, consistent and accurate dressage, lovely clear jumping (first time in an indoor) and a fantastic, smooth ride on XC - he’s the complete machine. He finished on his dressage score of 18.4 (!) and on the podium!

ALICE: Seeming like she’s been doing this for years (belying the fact she’s still only had a handful of HT starts), the little lady also did everyone proud in Grade 3! The hold in the dressage, meant that her wonderful warm up went a little to waste as she was a little over it by the time the judge finally beeped to start. Protesting by halting at a 45 degree angle for the judge, she redeemed herself and produced some lovely work, putting her top 10. A clear and balanced SJ and a storming XC, on time and showing great fitness, meant she also finished on her dressage score and moved up to the podium in 4th place!

Thanks to the wonderful “Ride With Elegance” Werribee Pony Club 2023 Horse Trials OC for a well run weekend and the prize bags were terrific!

Overdue weekend wrap up - A busy day of showjumping in the sunshine on Sunday, with 9 rides to complete by lunch, was made straightforward thanks to the wonderful team at Riddells Creek Pony Club - from the sane scheduling, the good facilities and efficient running of rings, to a really great canteen! Everyone was so welcoming, happy and relaxed! Paul Williams designed two terrific courses with enough to make riders ask themselves and their horses some challenging questions if they were up to it, but easy to have fun and just build confidence on too.

King was first out in the A Grade and he was super keen, but listened well and settled into his job quickly. Without the pressure of a host of competitors, he could really be tested out at this grade - and some different strategies were tried out on full courses. Sage advice from Paul was most welcomed 🙏 and put into action. He gave such a brilliant ride all day and really found a groove. Clever boy! Here’s looking positively to Nationals next week for him 🤞🏼

Next up was Alice, in C grade. Still she scoffed at the little jumps, and hence was a tad lazy in the initial round. She clearly she thinks she can do what King does… and better of course 🙄 She was, however, adjustable and did take every spot asked for. In the final championship jump off, she pulled out a blistering round of fast, calm, accurate twists and turns that saw the fastest time posted! Woweee! It got a big grin from the coach and a very definite nod of approval! Pressure works to her advantage, challenge is her fuel. Noted. She got ribbons in all rounds and finished 4th overall, showing she’s right on track to add Showjumping to her career track!

Last was the new kid, Tucker. 🌟 Boy did he try is heart out too. Not happy with watching everyone else have fun (fidgeting, pawing - he was quite the impatient little sod!) once in the ring with a job to do he was terrific. Some wiggly lines to start, but by the last jump off he looked like he’d been doing it for years - supporting our observation that he is VERY fast learner. He even earned himself some pretty ribbons too! Another cracking baby from EJC Equestrian who is looking forward to his first Eventing start very soon!

Special thanks 🙏 this week goes to the stand-in videographer, support worker and apprentice strapper, Joe Clark. Making it well in time after a long and very early morning drive, he set about asking what needed to be done, offering intuitive help at just the right time and making himself very useful. Learning the ropes from scratch and remembering such detail was impressive. Your calm positivity bought many smiles - you are definitely a welcome addition to the team! 💕 Riding lessons next up…?! 😀
