*Pending pick up*
This beautiful girl has recently become available, she is vaccinated and vet checked, ready to go to her forever home ❤️
Keeping in mind I won’t be breeding for the time being, she is the last one I have available bred by me and will be the last one for some time to come. She is a sweet, inquisitive little girl.

Her mum is Narla and her dad is Kovu.

*Pending pick up*
Bonded pair Shenzi and Sarabi hold a very special place in my heart and are looking for their forever home, these girls are available as of next week!
Both have been vaccinated, vet checked and desexed. Although these girls look very similair, they are so unique in their own special ways.
Both are so sweet and very kind natured.

As they are a bonded pair they must be homed together, they are inseparable and follow each other around wherever the other may go!
Please message me if you are looking for two beautiful girls to extend your family ❤️

🚨Keeping in mind that I may not be breeding again for some time….🚨
This is the last girl looking for her forever home, she was vaccinated and vet checked today and will be ready for her new home on the 9th of February!
She is a sweet little soul, and will make an excellent pet or hunter!
All ferret kits from Liv’s ferrets have been well handled and nip trained, they have also been introduced to bathing 🥰

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that at this point in time Liv’s ferrets will no longer be breeding.
I have enjoyed the journey and I thank everyone for being a part of it, thank you for your ongoing support and love 🫶🏽

There are still some kits from this season available, and it will very likely be your last chance to get one from me.

Kind regards,
Liv

🌸Meet the rescues - girl gang🌸

These beautiful girls will be looking for their forever homes in the coming weeks, all have beautiful temperaments and will make great additions to a family seeking that new little member!

Shenzi and Sarabi are very close to my heart, they are a bonded pair and will only be homed together. Although they almost look identical it will not take their new owners long to be able to tell them apart, they both have great personalities and are complete individuals 🥰

*They will be desexed and vaccinated*
*Maple already has a beautiful family waiting for her arrival*

My dear friend Daisy and I have taken on 4 pregnant females from a not so great situation, so there will be 4 litters - two of those are already born and doing well!
In 10-12 weeks time we will be rehoming these litters, they will be vaccinated, well handled and ready for their new homes 🥰
We are taking expressions of interest, if you would like to be nominated to the waiting list and offer these little ones a home please contact via direct message.

‼️There will be a no breeding agreement to sign upon adoption, as these are RESCUE litters, not litters bred by ME.‼️

‼️‼️ FOUND ‼️‼️
Entire young male found on Mia Mia road, Broadford.
If he belongs to you, you will need to provide evidence of ownership upon claiming.
He has a safe place with me until owners are found, alternatively he will be desexed and rehomed or have a forever home here.
Please share this post, hoping to find his owners - he appears to be very loved and I’m sure they miss him!

Let's talk, Ferret Dietary. Some food for thought.

Ferrets are strict carnivores, ferret's in the wild eat whole animals, eating their meat, soft bones and organs.

Being strict carnivores means that they can only consume meat products, and should never be fed grains, vegetable and plant matter, dairy etc.

The optimal diet for a ferret is a complete balanced raw diet consisting of:
✯ Meat/ muscle 65-75%
✯ Heart - 10% (this is vital for taurine)
✯ Organs - 10%
✯ Edible bone (soft bone) - 10- 15%
for a more in-depth guide to raw feeding, I highly recommend reading: https://www.rawfeedingadviceandsupport.com/ferret-starter-guide #:~:text=A%20balanced%20raw%20diet%20for,at%204%20meals%20a%20day.&text=Edible%20Bone%3A%2010%2D15%25,use%20of%20the%20word%20edible.

That brings me to, why not kibble or cat food?
Cat food in simple, is designed for cats and ferrets have very different dietary requirements than what cats have.

Cat food can contain products such as wheat and corn which can lead to serious issues in your ferrets intestines and digestive tract. Ferrets also can not digest fibre, fibre is also found in many cat foods. This goes for both cat kibble and wet food.

Kibble is the leading cause of pancreatic cancer in ferrets, even if your great great great not so great grandfather used to feed his ferrets kibble.

The famous 'vetafarm ferret food' contains pea flower and other plant matter, pea flower causes bladder stones in ferrets.

I see a lot of people wanting to transition their ferrets from a raw diet to a kibble or mixed diet, sometimes for convenience sometimes for other reasons. But raw diet is the best diet you could feed your ferret, and if you are wanting to transition to a kibble diet, I would do some more research and rethink if it is the best idea,

Giving a warm welcome to 'Salt', Salt was bought into Liv's Ferrets last night and will be available for adoption in the future.
Did you notice the splay of his hind legs? If you didn't pick it already Mr. Salt suffers from Rickets also known as 'Swimmers'. Rickets is the abnormal development and calcification of the bones.

Rickets is secondary to low calcium intake, low vitamin D intake or an excessive phosphorous intake. Rickets is often seen in young ferrets that have not received enough calcium whilst in the womb and/or when growing.

Feeding your pregnant and lactating Jill’s a complete diet will prevent rickets, feeding a complete diet is crucial in the development of kits.

Ferrets with Rickets have brittle bones and can cause damage and fractures performing daily activities.

Rickets can be rectified if there are no broken bones or irreversible damage. Swimmers can be rectified with calcium supplements, a balanced diet and veterinary attention and interventions.

Let's talk about desexing your female ferrets.

Why do we desex them? There is a couple of reasons to greatly consider desexing you female ferret, one reason being to prevent accidental litters same as cats, dogs and other animals. BUT the main reason desexing is crucial, is the nature of heat and reproduction, when a female ferret comes into heat she remains in heat until mated with. When she is in heat her estrogen levels climb high, high levels of estrogen over a prolonged time suppress bone marrow function, meaning the production of red blood cells is at stand still.

Female ferrets can be spayed at the minimum age of 8 months, alternatively to desexing you can facilitate medical sterilization this is in the form of an implant called Suprelorin (Deslorelin). This implant is temporary but can last up to 1-2 years, depending on the ferret, it is also very available due to the use of it in dogs. The implantation can also accommodate desexing your ferret at a later age, desexing at a later age (1-2 years) decreases the risk of complications coincided with desexing, such as adrenal disease.
Alternatively, to medical interventions the use of a vasectomy male can be implemented to bring you females out of season, but this is also temporary.
