Ghost nets in our oceans have a dark origin. They result from lost fishing gear, but it's not just fishermen who bear responsibility. Accidents, severe weather, and even intentional dumping can contribute. The fishing industry's demand for seafood fuels this problem. It's everyone's concern – fishermen, consumers, and governments.

Stricter gear disposal rules, sustainable practices, and raising awareness are vital. At Tangle, we're working with UK ports to recycle damaged nets, giving them a new life on land. Let's make a positive change together! 🌊🐟

When we say our dog bowl is made from recycled fishing nets, we really mean it. ♻️

Fun fact: in the process of turning nets into bowls, we discovered that they create this gorgeous green marble effect... and it looks pretty cool, so we just let it be. It means that every bowl is unique!

They really are gentle, curious, and compassionate creatures.

They, and marine life as a whole, trust us to visit their home and treat it kindly.

Ghost nets are up there as one of the greatest threats to marine life.

It's on us to get rid of them for good. 🌊

We've always found that when we talk to people about ocean plastic pollution, the conversation is always around plastic bottles, bags, and straws. Not a lot of people actually know about ghost nets.

It's easy to think that we can do nothing about them because we don't use them or may never have actually seen them.

Here are some ways you can help:

🌊Engage with and share content around ghost nets - spreading awareness helps more people discover and learn about the problem.

🌊Support businesses and charities working on the frontlines.

🌊Learn more, knowledge actually is power!

🌊Write to your local government. No matter where you are in the world, conversations about ocean conservation are going on in government - make sure your voice is heard!

Do you know what foods your pup should avoid?

In the everyday household it's likely you'll have some of these out and about so keep them hidden and away and out of your dogs bowl:

🍻 Alcohol -
🧀 Blue Cheese - the cheese tax applies to everything except this mouldy delicacy
🍫 Chocolate - Keep it in a Galaxy (😉) far far away from your dog
🧄 Garlic - Much like vampires your dog might not enjoy a nibble of garlic
🍇 Grapes and Raisins - We're all guilty of dropping a grape and leaving it because it rolled under the sofa (just me?!) but make sure if you have a pup around that you find that grape and bin it!
