Older or sick dogs 🐕
The last few weeks have been tough. As our dogs become older sometimes the grooming process can become a little bit too much for them. We all hope that our dogs will stay with us forever and these thoughts arnt something we want to think about but we do. Were your dogs biggest advocates 💪
🐶Does your dog still need to be groomed now he’s old? Yes and no
🐶 Can we make them comfortable? Yes
🐶 Will it look perfect? Probably not
🐶What can you offer? Some dogs need the process to be quick and easy. We can bath them the day before and groom them the next day or you can bath them at home the night before and bring them in for their groom.
🐶What if my dog needs grooming but can’t handle an any part of the groom? In this instance it’s humanity over vanity. The chances are your dog is now a lot older, less tolerant, abit unsteady on their feet and couldn’t care what they look like. When we are at this stage unfortunately grooming should be ceased. It’s a difficult conversation but we don’t just leave you. We have done lots of home visits for people to clean dogs eyes so they can see, make them comfortable and shown owners how to manage at home.
These last few weeks we have had to have some difficult conversations with owners about their dogs not being able to cope with being groomed. This isn’t because they hate the grooming it’s because it’s too much for them. Your dogs health and happiness is our top priority and always will be. If your dog can’t handle standing for the groom that’s fine lots of breaks can be given but it does become quite a struggle for your dog and this is the first indication your dog is slowing down. We will always have a conversation with you as always about your dogs health
If we do need to speak to you please don’t take it personally we are doing this for your dog, like always we will be honest and will continue to help if you need us to. It breaks our hearts to have to do it 🥰
