‘She sat at the back and they said she was shy,

She led from the front and they hated her pride,

They asked her advice and then questioned her guidance,

They branded her loud, then were shocked by her silence,

When she shared no ambition they said it was sad,

So she told them her dreams and they said she was mad,

They told her they'd listen, then covered their ears,

And gave her a hug while they laughed at her fears,

And she listened to all of it thinking she should,

Be the girl they told her to be best as she could,

But one day she asked what was best for herself,

Instead of trying to please everyone else,

So she walked to the forest and stood with the trees,

She heard the wind whisper and dance with the leaves,

She spoke to the willow, the elm and the pine,

And she told them what she'd been told time after time,

She told them she felt she was never enough,

She was either too little or far far too much,

Too loud or too quiet, too fierce or too weak,

Too wise or too foolish, too bold or too meek,

Then she found a small clearing surrounded by firs,
And she stopped...and she heard what the trees said to her,

And she sat there for hours not wanting to leave,
For the forest said nothing,

it just let her breathe.' 🦋🙌🏻

It’s National horse day so I thought I would show some of the horses that got me to where I am today, I don’t know where I would be without them.

What horse has changed your life?

For all of our loyal steeds… they aren’t ’just horses’. They are everything.

Couldn’t be happier with this new shelter and the horses seem to love it too, thanks again Steel Shelters!

I DID NOT KNOW... by Alissa Kelly

I did not know a horse could bring people into your life that end up meaning the most to you.
I did not know a horse could make the hardest days of your life bearable.
I did not know a horse could teach you to put others first.
I did not know a horse could remind you time and time again that your gut is always right.
I did not know a horse could break your heart.
I did not know a horse could pick you up when you have fallen apart.
I did not know a horse could teach you to dream again, after you thought it was not possible.
I did not know a horse could make you believe in yourself.
I did not know a horse could teach responsibility, work ethic, and dedication.
I did not know a horse could make you believe in something when no one else does.
I did not know a horse could make you learn to forgive and forget.
I did not know a horse could humble you faster than you can say humble.
I did not know a horse could make you a winner.
I did not know a horse could also teach you how to lose gracefully.
I did not know a horse could instill patience in you.
I did not know a horse could make you listen better.
I did not know a horse could give you their heart.
I did not know a horse could change your life.
I did not know a horse could do all these things...
but now I know. ❤️❤️

Why is trauma normalized?

Why do videos of horses bucking with their first saddling get the most views?

Why not celebrate videos where the first ride consists of the horse quietly walking with a rider for a few minutes without any incidents?

A colleague of mine said a few weeks back. We need to celebrate the small things!!

Why don’t we? Cuz it’s not exciting enough? Too slow? Worried about self image?

We need to notice and applaud those 5 minute quiet first rides because in reality, no one wants a bucking horse later on. They want a quiet one.

So then why are we normalizing that traumatic experience for the horse?

Let us begin to enjoy the process. Notice the little try’s. Notice when your horse suddenly doesn’t mind you walking behind them. Notice that one day your horse walks up to you when he didn’t before.

Noticing the little things helps you also see the beginning signs of when things are starting to go wrong. This can prevent many future problems.

Trauma can be avoided by taking smaller, slower steps. It can set the first haltering, first saddling, first ride, up for success with no traumatic experiences.

The average horse owner does not have the ability nor the desire to work their horse with big traumatic steps. They want to instead connect with their horse and have a safe and fun relationship. Why not train for this end goal? Why don’t train horses with a “everyone can do it” method?

Train for peace, not war!

Really excited for the Extra Mile event this weekend with Gamilah Unbridled to raise awareness for rescue horses and what they can do!

I will be also be doing demos with my two horses to showcase what we have been working on. I am very grateful for getting this opportunity and have really enjoyed these past few months learning new things and getting to know Patrick and Avery!

✨Check out their page to get tickets!✨

Feel so lucky to have been able to tag along to Equifest of Kansas brought to you by Kansas Horse Council with Gamilah Unbridled it was such a cool experience with so much to see, everyone did amazing and it was really inspiring to see what can be accomplished!

I took some extra time to let BlueStar and Scotch out to run around and do their own thing, they seem to enjoy the extra time to just be horses while in their "work space." With all of the different maneuvers that we work on, focusing in the arena its important for them also to have time to just enjoy the space and play, while I sit back and enjoy the view!

Dear Cowgirl,

I hope you know what freedom is.
True freedom.

I hope you discover the joy of saying “no” and
choosing to say the “yes” that will change your life for the better.

I hope you don’t let anyone sabotage your joy.

I hope you wander a long time, and joyfully get lost along the way.

I hope you wander with someone wonderful.

And know what it is like to discover the joys of exploring alone.

I hope you break negative family traditions that have never been healthy, but were simply accepted.

I hope you do everything in your power to hold onto the memories that make you giggle, kiss someone wonderful and quit jobs that slowly stifle your soul.

I hope you sing a little louder, dance like a maniac & never let getting knocked down stop you from getting what you want.

And may you always ride nice horses.💕©Adrianbbrannan

Dear Cowgirl,

I hope you allow whatever blessings are coming your way into your life.

I hope you take a moment to slow down, and appreciate the way the sky changes colors at 7:24 on a Sunday evening, and the way people who truly love you say goodbye on the phone.

I hope you pack your things and always say yes to adventures, and never miss a sunrise if you can help it.

I hope you find things that set your soul on fire and a vocation your 8 year old self would think is “cool.”

I hope you remember there is no limit on happiness or success, and stop worrying about someone else taking your place...if you’re meant for it, nothing can take it away.

Dear Cowgirl, I hope you refuse normal...never make small talk about the weather, and always say yes to adventure.

I hope you live loudly. 💕 ©Adrian Brannan

I have had A LOT of requests for workshops/ clinics.

While I work towards my own certification program, I am currently exploring interest in a single day clinic in which we will:
💫 evaluate basic movement before and after sessions in order to create an understanding of tension and it’s effect on motion. 💫

Auditors will be able to watch 3-4 sessions and take part in the analysis of each. My goal is to establish an awareness of how effective proper bodywork is in athletes and to establish a better ability to determine behavioral vs physical.

Auditor fee will likely be around $250, but would be finalized when all details are released.

Who would be interested in this? Out of state arrangements would vary for those interested in hosting a workshop.
