Afterlife & A Loss For Words

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying...you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear.
"It's me, I haven't left you...I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I am not lying there.

I walked with you toward the house, as you fumbled for your key,
I gently put my paw on you. I smiled and said, "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over...I smile and watch you yawning
And say, "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we will stand, side-by-side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

I've been watching Crosby T Jones from above here and I have to say he's one blessed Lab to have Robin & Mike as owners. His grandparents are awesome too. He better appreciate his uncle Rusty too while he can. Pretty soon Rusty and I will be back together. Take your time Rusty... I am not going any where ♥

Today I had to go and get three stitches removed. I had a growth that the vet had removed from my muzzle last week. I look so much more handsome now.

I am so bummed that I didn't get to go to Wisconsin with my buddy, Rusty. Instead, I had to stay home with my mom and dad. *sigh* Guess I will go take another nap.

Today my mom took me for a ride in her car, but we went to the vet! :-/ I didn't have to stay long and he said nothing is wrong with my bones, which is good BUT he did say I can't play rough for the next two weeks and can only have leash walks. I have to chill out to see if I stop limping. No fair!

Rusty came over to visit today. We didn't play much today because he wasn't interested. :-( My back legs feel stronger than they have in a while but my front leg is bothering me a bit. I only limp when I walk fast though. Hopefully it will feel better soon because I hate it when I have to go to the vet!!!
