Lita had her first seizure on 7th March 2022 @ around 1245pm.
Looking at her having her 1st seizure breaks my heart. Not just mine, many hearts of Lita's godmamas and jiejies... Few of them were here today when Lita had her 1st seizure yesterday afternoon. We fed her seizure meds around 1pm and she wasnt out of the woods until 6pm after her 2nd dose of meds and injection to help bring down inflammation from her brain. Her blood pressured was monitored high since 1pm until around 3+pm. Then it began to maintain at normal BP but she was still in high tone and hypersalivation. She was scared, couldnt eat or drink, worried and kept looking at us wondering what has happened to her. All of us took turns to sit with her, pat her and assured her all is well n she will come out of the episode slowly. At around 5+6pm she finally came out of The Woods, woke up and began to respond to us and managed to drink some water on her own.
Around 10pm after we reached home, gave her dinner and meds, allow her to rest n calm down for abit and started her oxygen therapy which will help in cells regeneration through the night. Yes through the night watching n patting her assuring her throughout. She would whine n yelp feeling abit off and worried (still possible of triggering into another seizure episode as her brain is probably still inflammed while waiting for her injections to kick start abit more). No joke about watching over her like a hawk. I didnt want her to wake up flopping around in shock or wake up rolling everywhere or see that no one is there for and with her. She rested in the comfort of leaning against my cat and my legs, hands patting her and taking in oxygen~best of all worlds for her. We are just hoping her second seizure will be far far away from now, very very far away. She tried so hard, she worked and lived on so hard, it is not fair for her at all but all we can do is to make the best out of all she has got this lifetime on Earth with us.
Many of the people around us will ask, how many dogs and cats you have liao still take Lita in. Aiyo you have 2 blinds, how many old ones, cats with kidney issues, ex breeding ones and the list goes on. And no, we are not hoarders!!!
Lita with a special medical condition call Hydrocephalus and medically speaking her lifespan will be around 1 year. But thanks to the so many elements in which we can provide such as 24/7 care, Blood pressure and spo2 monitoring, seizure monitoring with seizure medications on hand, supplementations, oxygen therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, physiotherapy and of course an extremely great vet who Lita had a VP shunt place into her at 1 month old.
For anyone who cannot provide or is not equipped readily, will have to spend alot alot more with her having seizures, hospitalized for seizure watch + oxygen therapy, paying for her physio and hyperbaric treatment, as well as a trained medical personnel to be on the watch for her 24/7, also to invest with blood presure machine, stethoscope and so on and so on...
We wanted Lita to be nursed n treated n grow n recover n live happily in a familiar environment handled by hoomans she already know. It helps with reducing any additional stress for her brain cells to act up or gets anxious/agitated and trigger anything off her into seizure.
Is it we 吃饱没事做? No le, for all who know us know we have alot of sick or handicap furkids on hand also. It just that we know for all the short expected lifespan of Lita, we wanted her to be well protected and loved with all we can provide for her emotionally, physically and medically.
How much time does she has on Earth? My previous Noah with the same condition lived 3.5 yrs with all those we can provide. Maybe Lita has a similar timeline or even more as we have more knowledge and actual medical experience in giving more for Lita? Is still not too long compared to a normal dog's lifespan of 15 yrs. So, why cant we give that few years of dedicated time to her, to love and provide healing and let her know she was never born unwanted despite her condition. Tats so much we can do and we are grateful for all the donations that comes in to help us with her expenses, as well as the support from close friends whom ran out to get her medications or nursed her at Gaia Wholistic in times of critical. Her favourite Angie JieJie loves her to bitssssssss (huge shout-out to Angie ShiYing ~谢谢你爱她那么多!)
They say it takes a kampung to raise a child, it does and we are super grateful for that. We know one day when Lita is gone, she will be angels above us who will continue to bless and protect us. For now, anyone still think why we so siao, then yes lo we are siao. Because she only has few years to live and we dont want any regrets. We just want her to live her life to fullest and be in the best care as well as surrounded only with love and healing.
TODAY SHE IS FINALLY STABLE.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP LITA IN YOUR PRAYERS 🙏
