Phoenix sure loves his mini mare Sugarfoot! It's amazing how far he has come since we got him in January ❤ I know he has very little muscle and no topline....unfortunately due to the fact that I torn my ACL and won't be riding again for a few months probably 😢

Phoenix's mini buddy Sugarfoot. She's a recent rescue, she was pretty much abandoned in a field with two billy goats and our vet rescued her. Now she has come to be a lovely little companion mare. Phoenix absolutely adores her!

I know we haven't posted at all lately. I had a bit of a fall and tore my ACL and am getting ready to have reconstructive surgery, so it's just been a lot going on. Anyway here's a cute pic of Phoenix and his buddy Dobby!

Phoenix is getting used to new things. Fly masks, fly spray and fresh grass. Newly painted barn and cushy new floors in his stall. His goat friends like to hang out with him too.

Phoenix is looking good! Fully recovered and gaining weight again. Enjoying warmer days!

Phoenix is happy to be home from the horsey hospital. They were very nice to him but he doesn’t like isolation! He’ll have another 7 days of antibiotics but he’s going to fully recover!
Nobody is happy that we have them on a dry lot while we grow back the big pasture. It was the wettest winter we’ve ever seen so the paddock finally dried out enough to hang out in. They’ll be back in the big pasture soon.

Phoenix is responding well to treatment at Virginia Tech. They expect him to be able to come home Monday or Tuesday. Just waiting on test results tomorrow. Minor setback, but we plan to continue getting him healthy and ready to ride.

Phoenix was taken to Virginia Tech yesterday with very high fever. Suspected Anaplasmosis. Appears to be responding to treatment and eating and drinking today.

Pupdate update:
Again still hoping to find an owner but prospect is unlikely. Herding dog mix puppy, black and white male. 8-10 weeks. Found in Spanishburg WV. Friendly and great with other pets. Please text 518-338-8877 if you know where he belongs!
So far nobody has come forward so this puppy will be seeking a good forever home. Please share even if your not local to us. I can usually arrange transportation. As for everyone who wants me to keep him, unfortunately it’s a bad idea. He isn’t the only animal in need on this mountain. My neighbor believes his litter mates are up here in danger from Coyotes. Let’s find him a home.

Everyone is doing well. Hard to find dry ground around here right now but they like to be turned out anyway. They also always seem happy to go back in dry stalls for dinner too.

Phoenix is doing his best to get the weight back on. I’m not sure he’ll ever be as “muscular” as his sister Blue. They are all good eaters though!

Finally had some nice weather today and got to ride Blue. Soon it will be Phoenix being ridden as well.....once he gains the weight he needs to that is. So very grateful for a beautiful day even though everything is super wet!

Well it was sunny and warmer today thankfully! Everyone is starting to become a true herd. Also all equines made sure to roll excessively today, so now I have a lovely muddy bunch to groom before blanket time for the night lol.

Night time Phoenix is tucked in his stall. Next door stall he can see Luna and a Snickers so he’s not lonely.

First picture this morning and second one week ago. What a difference a week can make! Coat looks better and filling out already.
No longer shy. He likes to talk to us when we come in his stall, especially for night feeding. He’s eating a mix of Nutrena and Triple Crown feeds, soon just Triple Crown. He has unlimited hay and minerals. He also loves treats!
