Feeding time!

Archer is starting to get more comfortable. He’s about 7 months old now.

He would never usually eat in front of us. However we were only a metre away at this point.

Crocodiles senses are so spot on, he has come up as soon as I had dropped the chicken in the enclosure. He was actually under the water underneath his landing pad but knew almost instantly food was out.

Incredible!

Still haven’t seen him eat any of the fish which he does at night.

Crocodiles are more active at night in the wild and captivity.

However archer has started eating fish so this is a good sign that he’s settling in.

Just hanging around…
Crocodiles will often float like Archer with just their eyes and nostrils out of the water.
This allows them to breath but also see or smell any prey.

Archer caught his first fish yesterday. Although we don’t think he actually ate it, he sat with it in his mouth for quite sometime.
Positive signs of a happy, healthy little croc.

He’s been very quiet today and not exploring much.. but this is due to the stress of the transport he endured yesterday.

Crocodiles also tend to be more active at night when they’ve had the day to warm their bodies up.
