Honestly, I’m just impressed the toy survived… 😆🐾

Maeve is a classic demonstration of how the biggest wolf in the pack is not always the boss… Faelen has about 60 lbs on her, yet Maeve always wins their little competitions! She takes things like that much more seriously, while Faelen is a casual goof. While Faelen is still the adult, and still the boss in the case of genuine conflict, I don’t expect that status to hold forever. With her personality (and the fact she’s a female), I do expect that Maeve will assert her authority within the next year or two. And I expect Faelen won’t care too much 😊

A member of the Junction Butte pack throws a casual glance our way as he left the scene of a recent kill in Lamar Valley. The pack was leaving after their kill had been removed by the Park Service, allegedly because Covid had left them too short staffed to patrol the scene. After seeing this happen 4 times in 2 weeks I am beginning to wonder what impact this will have on the behavior of the wolves. I don’t have the answer, but I know it’s an important question to be considered.
