Happy to announce last week Freyja had her first day coming back to work with mom, after a very long year of healing from surgery on both ACLs.

With it being her first walk back it only made sense she got to go with her best friend Boomer! You’d never know they haven’t seen in eachother in a year 🥰

So happy to have her healed!

To all who have asked about her joining on walks to help socialize, she cannot wait to meet some new friends! She’s so happy to be back 😊

Hello friends, clients, and future clients!

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, mainly because one of my own dogs needed a TPLO on both legs so our focus was on her healing and making sure current clients were taken care of. However I’m happy to say she’s doing great!!

As you can see from the many cute faces below…we’ve been busy!

With that being said I wanted to answer some general questions due to the influx of inquiries

-We are still accepting vacation clients, this is limited with most availability being on weekends.
(We do not offer in home overnights we offer multi day visits)
- We have no limitations on breed, or temperaments.
- We offer care to many animals besides dogs! Cats, reptiles, farm animals, and more are all welcomed!

Good dogs wear muzzles. Let us say it again —

👏🏼 GOOD. DOGS. WEAR. MUZZLES👏🏼

It is 2022, and as a society we absolutely must start normalizing dogs who wear muzzles and understanding that GOOD, SWEET, LOVING, GOOFY, SILLY, VERY GOOD DOGS wear muzzles.

The media, TV and movies can be to blame for people being weary of them, but muzzles are very common and useful training tools.

Some dogs engage in dangerous behavior with their mouths — that doesn’t mean biting, though. Muzzles are commonly used for dogs who pick things up off the ground that they shouldn’t or have a habit for eating things (which may be toxic) off the grass along their walks. Having a muzzle on can keep them safe and avoid vet visits for accidentally swallowed objects!

There are other good dogs who can be shy or nervous in public, and since dogs can’t speak to tell people to slow down, muzzles can keep THEM safe. Imagine you are on a walk along the trail, and a stranger came up, grabbed you and gave you a kiss 😳😳 You would likely be shocked and say, “WHOA! STOP!” This is equal to a human running up, petting and hugging a dog they don’t know out of nowhere. That good dog will be startled and because they can’t speak, they will say “WOW, IM SCARED!😭” and tell the person to stop it with their mouth, by either barking, growling or snapping. This is still a very good dog, and their very good owners keep them safe by protecting them with muzzle training.

A muzzle is also a great option to be worn at the vet — especially if your dog is already sick or in a lot of pain. A dog who can wear a muzzle will ensure the safety of vet staff during blood draws, nail trims, and other procedures, and they will be kept SAFE.

Muzzles, when used correctly, are safe and effective tools that can help even the friendliest, sweetest, silliest dogs get through stressful situations safely.

We have amazing dogs here for adoption who wear muzzles on walks who are CONSTANTLY overlooked solely because of the muzzle. Hooper is one of those dogs. He is a very friendly and sweet Retriever who can get startled and scared by things he is not expecting on walks, so a muzzle keeps him safe.

He never receives any applications because of this, and it is a real shame because he is a good dog, and 👏🏼GOOD DOGS WEAR MUZZLES!👏🏼

Almost 34 million of the flea-and-tick collars have been sold — a new congressional report claims they can kill.

As you enjoy the summer temps, please do right by the best friend who depends on you the most. Remember: a pet in a parked car, even with the windows open, can quickly overheat and die on a warm day.

If you see an animal in distress in someone’s car, call 911 immediately and try to find the owner. If you cannot find the owner immediately, and you are still waiting for first responders and the animal seems to be in grave condition, state law allows you to break the car window or make entry to save the pet’s life. ❤

It really doesn’t matter if your dog is friendly or not.

What matters is that you don’t take the choice away from another owner (and their dog) as to who they interact with.

There can be so many reasons why a dog and their owner need space from you and your dog.

Please allow them that choice 💙

There is a movie coming out on Feb 18 called "Dog". It stars Channing Tatum and a highly trained Belgian Malinois. It's a road trip/buddy movie.

People are going to see this film and many will want their own Belgian Malinois. This is not going to end well for this breed.

A highly trained Malinois is a work of art. So is Michelangelo's statue of David but I don't necessarily want it in my living room.

This breed can be amazing in the right hands but they require a lot of everything. If you are considering getting a Malinois, please, first go meet some Malinois of all ages at your local rescue.

Be honest with yourself about the amount of time that you have to dedicate to training one of these dogs. Not the person that you want to be but the person that you are right now. Sitting on your ass and reading this post.

If you are still determined to get one. You can stem the inevitable tidal wave of Malinois that will be surrendered to the shelters by sourcing your dog in one of 3 places:

Your local shelter
A local Malinois rescue
A real, ethical breeder (researching one is hard work but an ethical breeder will prove their dogs and require that you return the dog to them if you can't keep it)

DO NOT get a Malinois from the guy down the street. Don't help backyard breeders line their pockets. Pure bred doesn't equal good breeding.

If you see the popularity of these dogs sky rocket and think you can make a quick buck by breeding some. May all of your financial ventures fail one after another.

From the bottom of my heart, I love this breed. I know what's coming and so do the shelters and rescues

Read this if you find an animal in need out in the cold!

Read this if you find an animal in need out in the cold!

IF YOU FIND A HYPOTHERMIC ANIMAL

1. DO NOT FEED
2. DO NOT SUBMERSE IN WATER

1. DO get out of the weather and inside
2. DO dry off
3. DO talk to
4. DO stroke to stimulate blood flow

GET TO A VET IMMEDIATELY!!!

If you feed a kitten with a temp below 97 you can KILL it!
If you warm them up to fast you can KILL it!
If the animal is frozen to the ground DO NOT PULL IT OFF!

Get LUKE WARM tap water and pour it around and under the animal. that water is warmer than the snow and air and is going to feel like FIRE to that animal's nerve endings. Think about stepping into a hot tub and how hot it feels. Again you DO NOT want to use hot water. Then Immediately dry the animal off, wrap it in a towel, shirt etc. and get to the nearest vet office.

Steady and slow is rule of thumb. A vet can treat the animal for shock and hypothermia using a series of injections and warm IV fluids and an incubator.

Losing ears, tails, toes or a leg is workable. Damaging internal organs isn't.
