I just love this girl! She doesn’t like to be loved on, but expects her treats. She doesn’t like to be caught, but will work herself into the ground if you ask her to. She hates crossing water or spongy ground. When I come out to the pasture, she comes to me and walks alongside me, keeping the other horses out of my personal space.

The beauty of having broodmares is having a job for those horses that aren't going to be riding sound! We acquired "Shiner" as a baby as part of a trade with her mom Hot Dona. From the day she arrived, she had a cut or a scrape on her somewhere. Despite our best efforts to keep her safe and riding sound, a riding horse just wasn't in the card for her, and she was destined to be a broodmare. She is the last mare we bred in 2024 and are really excited to see what her babies will be like!

We have a lot of sisters and mothers and daughters in our pasture. Once you find something you like, you should stick with it, right?

Remember during Covid when everyone bought a puppy? We bought a horse! "Dot" was QT and my major covid purchase from the Fort Ranch in Utah. She is the kindest, most loving mare you will meet. She loves to be loved on and meets me at the gate every day. We didn't get to ride her like we had planned due to a shoulder injury so decided to breed her last spring to Pistol and look forward to seeing what she has for a baby this spring!

Meet Sage! Sage came to us out of Montana. We bought her for the baby she was carrying a couple of years ago and had the misfortune of being born premature with complications. Since then, she's given us a couple really fun fillies and we hope this spring will be no exception!

Playboys Red Boni is another `15 model by TR Playboys Peppy out of BNE Miss Boni Blue.

What can we say, we just like grays! We purchased Sugar from the TS as a yearling and she was about the same color as her foal in the picture here, but not a speck of white. In a corral full of every roan imaginable, TR picked the only mud brown filly. When Jeannie King asked him why he picked that one he replied, "She's the only one who let me pet her." You can't beat that logic! Unfortunately, a wire cut put her in the broodmare string a little earlier than we would have liked, but we are pretty impressed with the babies she is throwing us!

Hot Dona came to us in a trade, and we are so glad we have her. She doesn't like to eat grain out of my bucket, and I can't love on her, but her colts are kind, friendly, and so trainable! They have been the first to sell each fall.

Miss Maddie will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we look forward to her babies every year. This is her with her first foal. We purchased her for our son TR and when he outgrew her, retired her to the broodmare band. This frosty morning after she foaled, we hurried down before school to check her. I cautioned TR that she might not like us too much since she had a new baby, but when she saw TR, she came at a long trot right to him to show off her baby and for a little love. The love she has for her boy is pretty special!

If you like big, gentle, pretty, bay roan geldings, then we have just the horse for you! Thumper measures 15.3 hands right now and is just 3 years old! He has roughly 60 days being used here on the ranch and is so easy to get along with! We laid him off all winter after 30 rides and he rode off like he was rode the day before. We gave him a few weeks off this past month, and stepped on this morning without warming up, and he walked off like he gets rode every day. He likes people and is an in your pocket type horse.
