I went to the barn today with full intentions on riding Winnie, but I could tell he was still sore from our 3 hour trail ride this past weekend. So I gave him an extra day off and a massage to help loosen and relax those tense muscles.
He has also put on a decent amount of muscle recently so we may be looking for a new saddle fit since it seems to be getting a little snug, causing him some of that tension.
All this to say, simply put the horse first. Invest in your horse. What you put in is what you will get out. Horses bodies are forever changing so make sure you're checking your saddle fit regularly. Your horse works hard for you and they deserve to have comfortable tack that fits them. And if your horse seems a bit sore, skip the ride and call me! I can usually fit in last minute appointments so we can get your pony back on track asap!
Horses use their back muscles A LOT so it's no wonder they get sore there prrtty frequently. Winnie is my own personal horse and during his lesson, he was having a hard time with his canter transition. His trainer and I noticed he was sore in his back as you can see in his "before". His muscles tensed up and he tried walking away to avoid the pressure. I gave him a 45 min massage to relax his muscles and work out the tension in his back. Afterwards, he had no reaction to the same spot that was causing him issues shortly before.
It's important to keep your horse feeling good. The better they feel, they better they can perform for you. Book your massage with me today and let's get your horse(s) back on track! Just $50 for the first horse and $40 every horse after! Travel fees may apply. Servicing Northern Indiana
