First week getting back into the groove with some lessons in the indoor on the beautiful footing! Everyone was happy to get going again. We're looking forward to the winter now! A lot of firsts for some! Great job Sahar, Rachel, Ashley, Alycia, Steph (Pyro) and Caitie. We'll be sure to get the rest of you for next week.
Thank you so much Brian Clouse for the BEAUTIFUL Arena. You did an amazing job. Enjoy the video. Now for the new kick boards!
Sahar working on keeping the canter when the horse wants to break and trot.
Worked on the effectiveness of her aids, specifically her leg and seat aids.
Great work!! 👏
Jenna and Snowman killin' it with this tough exercise today. So glad to see them back in action 💪🏼

Getting ready for their dressage show this weekend!!
Love how well these two work together ❤️
Some great lessons this week. A lot of working with Green horses, learning new things, both horse and rider! Some students getting some jumping in and lets not forget those moving up to new levels and getting show ready! Check out Nicole, Jenna, Luca, Gianna, Nicole, Grace and Stefanie! So proud of all of your hard work and thank you for making my job SO much FUN! For those of you who didn't get videos this week, you all did great as well, I'll be sure to get you into next weeks cut!
Jenna and Snowman 7/8/22
Such a cute pair!
Riding through the heat
Althought it has been a brutally hot weekend, all of these guys were champs and put effort into their lessons!
(With lots of walk breaks and water bottle breaks 😉)
Ashley and Wesley 5/12/22
Ashley and Wesley really coming along. Slowly getting this cool dude back into proper work, so proud of both of them!
Savannah on Norman 5/1/22
Savannah's first time ever on a horse. Working on getting comfortable on the horse, understanding how to balance with her legs and her core. Super stuff!
Stephanie on Brody 5/15/22
Stephanie working hard on understanding how to engage the hind end of the horse and containing that energy underneath her for a more active, athletic trot. Great job!
Gracie on Norman 5/15/22
Grace did AWESOME for her first time on our newest addition to the Colvin Equestrian Family, Norman. Working on keeping a less forward horse, more forward 😉
Before and After
Its not talked about enough, starting your riding journy as an adult. Lots of people start when they're little kids, but its a whole different ballgame as an adult.
First: Progress can seem way slower and way scarier as an adult, you're more scared to fall, more scared to go fast, more scared to jump.
Second: Lots of trainers are used to putting the words "beginner" and "child" together, so it can seem like some trainers will almost baby you, which is already embarrassing considering you and the 7 year old next to you are both learning to post the trot. You already feel late to the game and now you feel like a little kid.
All of that being said, here at Colvin Equestrian, we're here for those adult riders that are nervous to get going, or keep going.
Below is a video of one of my clients. The first clip is from December 2021, her first time cantering my horse. The second clip is from last week, March 2022. In just 3 months, we have almost a completely different rider. Much more confident, much stronger, much straighter, much more balanced and most of all, much HAPPIER. ❤️
Adult riders out there, or adults that WANT to ride, it is never too late to start. We're here to help you.
