It is with much joy and a bit of sadness that I announce 4 Paws Service Dogs LLC closed. I am now a proud owner of Dog Training Elite Michiana, which offers in home lessons in everything from Obedience to Therapy to Service Dog. Dog Training Elite is expected to launch late July in the Michiana area (South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, north Elkhart Indiana). I couldn't be more excited

Apologies for the long absence, but it was a crazy end to the year. Seasonal Affective Disorder, the stress of holidays, busy work schedule, and then throw in an expensive extensive surgery for Hux... it was all I could do to just get through the day. Then add in the ptsd and anxiety..... well, let's just say hopefully things are beginning to return to normal. So here's to a new year, onward and upward.

Fen was groomed the other day, he was less than thrilled. But his cat "friend" was happy to snuggle with him.

I started new meds today and I'm not feeling "quite" right and Hux knows it. He has been taking care of me all day. (Hux is my primary Service Dog )

Fennec finds ways to keep himself busy while mom has been very busy getting the Puppy to Partner program ready to launch. This program will include everything you need to train from 8 weeks old to an adult Tasking Service Dog Partner. Our full course library should be done and available in September. Keep your eyes out for a special "launch sale price".

I watched about 3 seconds of the video and it turned my stomach so much I had to shut it off. Just another reason to use our program and train your own dog (if you are able). No one will love them more than you.

I’m not going to share the videos, they are everywhere. But I am mentioning the names Tina Frey and Victoria Brimer from Cypress Arrow K9 Academy (Lena, Louisiana) I hope these videos became public sooner than later and these two have not been abusing dogs for too long!

Knowing how to choose a dog trainer has become more difficult than ever. Pet owners are easily fooled by social media “credentials”.
Who are you going to trust to train your dogs? Use *caution when selecting a trainer, there are very bad people out there!

The online courses are beginning to come together. The school is active on teachable and links can be found on our website 4 Paws Service Dogs . com.
Keep in mind its still a work in progress and videos still need to be added (coming next week), along with the rest of the courses (puppy - SD fundamentals). Our goal is to offer affordable training options for Owners to train their own Service Dog.

A preview of the 1st course that will release. My intention is to have all the tasks (in every program) be available a la carte or as a bundle. That way you can pick and choose exactly what you need. The course offerings will be puppy, basic & advanced obedience, Service Dog fundamentals, public access, psychiatric tasks, & reactivity. Then we will expand to non-psychiatric tasks such and scent alerts, mobility tasks. If there are any tasks/courses you need or would like to see let us know and we will try to include it.

Today was grooming day for Fen and Hux. Since it was nice out (not raining or to hot) we took advantage of not having to clean up afterwards by drying outside. Now I'm taking a break then its back to work on the course which will be available on Teachable soon.

So happy to know Shelby finally found her home. We wish her and her new family all the best.

Shelby arrived with Momma & a slew of siblings 12 weeks ago. All her siblings & even Momma were adopted and we worried she would spend her puppyhood with us. THEN this beautiful family met her &, as we had, fell hard for her!

Sorry we've been quiet. I've still been recovering from the tail end of covid (and had a couple family obligations). I expect to be busy this next week or 2 as I finalize our online training program and meet to discuss the possibility of starting a local Veteran's program within the year. I promise I will be back ASAP.

Sorry for being quiet the last few days. Class was pretty busy then many of became sick. We had to end class early and were unable to get a final video of Shelby before she returned to the shelter. Luckily I made the 6 hour drive home and am now reseting. I think its safe to say Boba missed his little brother.

Went to Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers for dinner yesterday. They gave Fen his own custard cup. He was a happy boy.

Shelby was learning how fun targeting with the treat and train could be. We start out rewarding when she even looks at the target, then increase the criteria to touching any part of it, then isolate the touching to the top. She chose to add the 2nd target by herself (she jumped up and touched it on the ledge). She learned very quickly. The whole lesson whas less than 10 minutes. Remember, she is still available for adoption.

While at This Able Veteran we have fogs from a local shelter to work with and train (as well as my own). This is Shelby. She was born at the shelter and hasn't experienced life outside of there property. After training they will be returned to the shelter where they are being advertised as participating in training hopefully she will find a loving home ASAP

Fen is mentally exhausted after today. His brain has worked really hard while learning how to deal with the reactivity I caused by "babying" and me being overprotective of him since he nearly died from an unknown toxin. Now I am dealing with the consequences and I'm not sure who is more difficult to change (I think it's me). I am forever grateful to Behesha at This Able Veteran for all her help and training.
