Science has so far been unable to tell us how
self-aware dogs are, much less whether they
have anything like our conscious thoughts. This is not surprising, since neither scientists nor philosophers can agree about what the
consciousness of humans consists of, let alone that of animals.

Yesterday, Kate ๐Ÿงธ underwent Parotid Duct Transposition surgery where her salivary gland was rerouted to her eye so that her dry eye, which was not producing any tears, is now being adequately lubricated by her saliva ๐Ÿ’ฆ This afternoon she was able to be discharged and is now back in the comforts of her foster home resting and recovering ๐Ÿ’• She is on lots of medications and drops and will return back to the ophthalmologist this time next week for a post-op recheck ๐Ÿ’œ In the meantime, it is important for her salivary glands to stay stimulated so plenty of treats are being prescribed ๐Ÿ“

newest foster is sweet 4 year old Shelby. Shelby was surrendered by her owner whose health was declining to the point she could no longer care for her. We will be evaluating Shelby for the next couple weeks and then she will be ready for rehoming
