New prospective sanctuary leaders

1. Why not just start my own sanctuary from scratch?

There would be a significant cost savings in taking over an established sanctuary because all of the infrastructure that will be in place. There will be fencing, housing and equipment. These items are quite significant and are often overlooked. In addition, there will likely be In established social media presence which you can utilize as well.

However, one must check with legal counsel as to the proper manner of transferring ownership.

2. Do I need to invest my own money?

Chances are they’ll be a mortgage on the sanctuary and a house so that may be a wash as It will probably be in a rural area where the housing is less even though there will be significantly more land. Most likely the sanctuary founder there will be paying most of these expenses however, there are ways that they fund raise such as merchandise, events, social networking etc. Even if the founder is not currently making many inroads into said markets you could certainly start working on it if you are adept and raise the donor base prior to taking over.
