The day the adventure began.

Dick grew up on a Wisconsin dairy farm where, at the age of 12, he decided he wanted to be a veterinarian. By 24 he achieved his dream. Upon graduation Dick spent 2 years with the Peace Corps serving cattle ranchers in rural Brazil. After returning to the US he settled in Los Angeles where his wife, Connie, attended grad school at UCLA. Decades later he's still there. Along the way he served as President of SCVMA, President of CVMA and a member of the California Veterinary Medical Board. He's served as a delegate to the AVMA for two terms and feels he has more to give to the profession as district director.

In 2016, Dick's son, Brendan, followed in his footsteps. Dick was invited to hood Brendan in the graduation ceremony.
