Paws for New Beginnings is a UK based non profit dog and cat rescue operating throughout Europe.

Paws for New Beginnings was founded in 2019 by an experienced and dedicated team of rescuers and volunteers both in the United Kingdom and Romania. We are a non-profit group (registered Community Interest Company - Company number 15037730) dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating strays and neglected animals throughout Europe. Our main focus is to rescue dogs and cats from the harsh streets and cr

uel kill shelters of Romania. Backed by two small shelters in Romania, we aim to do what is best for those in need, by rescuing innocent animals and providing a safe, healthy and loving environment. Our mission is to provide the necessary care for our pawed friends, with the hope that they will eventually be re-homed across the UK, and happily live out their next chapters in loving homes. We strongly believe that every animal deserves the chance to leave paw prints in someone’s heart!

Still looking for my forever people after the hoomans here rescued me after I was abandoned in a field in the middle of nowhere. I really hope I can soon find a safe place to call home. I am about one year old, vaccinated, and I am really, really friendly. I love playing with my doggie friends at the shelter. If you think I could fit your furamily, please let the hoomans know! As 2024 draws to a close we would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year! 🎉
With your help this year, we managed to rehome 47 dogs and 9 cats! 🐈‍⬛ 🐕❤️ On top of this, we rescued a number of sick, injured and neglected animals, ran a few small spay campaigns, managed to fundraise for and order new dog houses and even found a few foster homes along the way ❤️

Next year will see us resume adoptions - after a tough 2024, we hope 2025 will bring more happily ever afters ❤️‍🩹

Thank you all for your continued support, we wish you all good health, happiness and love for the year to come.

Desperate plea for help - please share 💔

Due to an unfortunate change in circumstances, Star needs to leave her foster home ASAP.
Star is a very nervous, senior girl who needs a patient and understanding retirement home. She came from the most awful kill shelter, lived in kennels for most of her life and needs a home with 0 expectations of her. She likes being around other dogs and would ideally need a home where people are around most of the time, with a very secure garden. Toilet training has been hit and miss for her, so she needs someone patient or who spends a lot of time outdoors to help her. Despite being older she loves to run and play in the garden with other dogs ❤️
She’s currently in Scotland but we will arrange transport to anywhere in the UK if the right home can be found.

Please let us know if you can help, we really can’t put Star back into kennels 💔

12 year old Dixon was rescued from the streets of Romania at the beginning of the year in pretty bad shape - but now, he’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from the comfort of his wonderful forever home 🥰

12 strays of Christmas 🎄

On our 12th and final day, we wanted to share an update on our handsome boy William 🥰❤️

William was a stray found by our team a few years ago - estimated then to be a whopping 12 years old! Those of you who remember William, will remember that he was in a very bad way when rescued. He was skin and bones, had an awful skin condition, and suffered with his lungs.
William was “unadoptable” in every sense of the word… but thankfully, Michelle didn’t care ❤️
When he became well enough to travel, he travelled to her home in England - and even though he can be a grumpy old man at times, Michelle cherishes every day spent with him ❤️

After a lifetime of struggle, William is so lucky to be spending yet another Christmas all wrapped up warm on the sofa 🥰

Huge thanks to Michelle for giving William the best retirement home 🥰 and a huge thanks to all of you who have followed along with our happy “12 strays of Christmas” posts this year! We love sharing these stories with all the people who support the work we do, and hope that it’ll continue in 2025 and beyond.

12 strays of Christmas 🎄

11 days in, we couldn’t go without mentioning our Scout 🥰

Scout was a sickly puppy when he was rescued from a dumpster in Romania - he was so sick and malnourished.😞 He was the ‘runt’ of the litter, could never seem to put any weight on, and always had some illness or another.
The team in Romania didn’t have much hope for him, but he continued to surprise everyone and with each vet visit, he got a little better and stronger. ❤️‍🩹
In November 2020, Scout made his way to Wales to live with team member Beth, Gareth, and their older Romanian rescue Holly - they’ve never looked back ❤️ Scout has overcome all his health challenges, and has now arguably gained a bit more weight than he should have 😝 He is still a worrier and has his quirks - but he is the most amazing companion 🥰
This special boy now lives a happy and carefree life. He is understood, and so very loved. ❤️

Somehow, our adorable cuddly boy Bobo hasn’t found a home yet, despite being in kennels since last June! 😢💔 Bobo was originally rescued from the streets, so he’s never known the comfort of a loving home, and we’d really love to give him just that. ❤️‍🩹 Bobo is now approximately 3 years old.
