Hvala vsem sodelujočim in kmalu ponovimo 🍀

In cooperation with PaSja Šola DonLord we organized a herding clinic with our Luka Založnik last weekend. And we had such a great time that we barely took any photos 😅

Still, we managed to catch a couple of snapshots. First we got to know the theory, then we got to know the sheep and worked with them without dogs, and finally the dogs joined us.

Thanks to all participants and hope we repeat it again soon 🍀

Spodbuja njegovo zaupanje, samozavest, razumevanje, uživanje in krepi vašo partnersko vez.

While many understand how to communicate when your dog is doing something you don’t like, handlers often don’t fully comprehend the more important thing—how to tell your dog when he is right.

Once dogs are committed to working most handlers employ a teaching system that incorporates some form of influence or pressure yet, many undervalue or misunderstand the critical part that leads to success, the release.
By immediately releasing when your dog tries to do what you're asking, you’re telling him he’s right…
Practicing this, with consistency and through repetition, your dog becomes keener to figure out what you’re teaching and importantly, enjoys his work more.

Many commonly used words in sheepdog training can be quite subjective such as, ‘power, presence, directness, eye, forward, strong,’ (to name a few) and the same is true for ‘pressure or release’. They can take on many forms and be misunderstood depending on your training style, your dogs age, maturity, mental fortitude and temperament.

Pressure generally involves the handler influencing behavior and may include:
Having your dog walk slowly
Square flank
Widening your dog
Work with precision… and numerous others.

Release also varies and often includes “giving your dog the sheep”.
It may look different, depending on the situation and can include:
Letting your dog go to balance point
Work without commands
Walk onto sheep quickly
You walking backwards….and many more.

When you immediately release your dog and allow freedom when your dog gives the response you're asking for, he knows he’s right and the teaching is more intuitive.
It fosters his trust, self confidence, understanding, enjoyment and empowers your bond as partners.

V sodelovanju s Pasjo šolo DonLord v mesecu aprilu organiziramo pašni seminar z našim Luka Založnik. 🤓

Potekal bo 23. in 24. 4. 2022 v SEDLU v Breginjskem kotu.

V kolikor bi radi preživeli odličen dan v dobri družbi, vabljeni 😊

❗️LASTNIKI OVČARSKIH PASEM - POZOR ❗️
Pasja šola DonLord v prihodnjem mesecu organizira pašni seminar!

☑️ Potekal bo 23. in 24. 4. 2022 v SEDLU v Breginjskem kotu
☑️ Cena: 50€/psa/dan
☑️ Kaj bo obsegal seminar?

--------------------------------------------------

🇬🇧 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼. It’s time to brush off the dust from our page, let you know what is happening with us and 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲. 💡🧐

So in the past year we were still active with our dogs on sheep, it’s just that we happened to stay without our own training place. That's also the main reason why we stopped posting, as we felt a bit in conflict of educating you guys on one hand, and not being able to give you a chance to train with us on the other 😕.

Until now, nothing has changed – we still don't have our own place. But we decided that it is still important to educate, so you can take the knowledge with you wherever you go to train with your dogs 😎.

𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘰𝘧 a 𝘥𝘰𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘳.
It's never ending learning and helping one another. So don't be too anxious about the time when the dog will be able to do everything on its own and 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 🤓.

[slo] Imamo sneg!

Theoretical basis of commands is necessary to understand practical work. But when we start putting our theoretical knowledge into practice, it can quickly become a mess, because it's all happening so fast. 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐠. 😬

In video below 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, so you can see how the dog and sheep respond to them. For easier practical work, you 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 not only how the dog will respond to command, but also 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐠. 🐑

In this video Luka guides Free with the following commands:
➡️ 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐨𝐧 - dog walks in a straight line towards sheep
➡️ 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 - dog stops in any position (stands, sits, lies)
➡️ 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐲𝐞 - dog moves clockwise
➡️ 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞 - dog moves counterclockwise
➡️ 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 - dog is slowly walking straight towards the sheep
➡️ 𝐋𝐚𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 - dog lays down

p.s. Do you notice how Luka changes the tone of the voice when Free doesn't follow the "Stand" command immediately? 🤔

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐤𝐚𝐣 𝐨 𝐧𝐚𝐬̌𝐞𝐦𝐮 𝐧𝐚𝐣𝐦𝐥𝐚𝐣𝐬̌𝐞𝐦𝐮 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐮 »𝐃𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐣𝐚« 🐑

Teja.''

𝐃𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤. This is what 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐭. 🔝

🤓 The easiest example of daily practical use of a dog on farm is that your 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 for them. This is how you prepare new food for sheep in peace without sheep being pushy all around you, and the dog feels exceptionally important as he uses its instinct to help you.

This is how we end up having 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐩 🍀🐑, 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐠 🍀🐕 and 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫 🍀 👨‍🦰.

❗️So don't forget to pay attention to regularly put practical work into your training sessions. 😊

𝐏𝐬𝐢 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐳̌𝐮𝐣𝐞𝐣𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐢𝐜̌𝐧𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐨. To je namreč tisto, kar 𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐮 𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐮 𝐝𝐚𝐣𝐞 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐥. 🔝

🎄 Holiday theme: 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐩. 🤓

Oh well... As if the recall is not difficult enough in everyday life. At the pasture we have to call the dog away from what he
instinctively likes to do the most. 😬

Learning the ′′𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑑𝑜′′ command is in practice 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. At the beginning we can help ourselves with a long leash, we start walking away and invite the dog to come to us. We can also include tapping on the leg, and ask the dog to get to that leg we are tapping on.

❗️ The easiest way dog will be successful is, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 - normally at the end of the training.

Of course, it's good that 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞, without sheep included. But this doesn't mean that when we are with sheep the dog will listen to us the same as at home. It just makes it a bit easier for dog. 😊

LEARNING TIME! 🤓

"𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱" command in theory means nearly the same as ′′Lay down", so the 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆. And yet in practice we can use it in different ways.

We usually use it as:

⏩ 𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 ′′𝗟𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻′′ 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱
Certain dogs just don't feel comfortable if they have to lay next to a flock of sheep. Which is actually logical, because in most cases dogs are at least half smaller than sheep 😄. So the 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱′′ 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 in a position that is most comfortable for him at that moment - whether it means on all four legs, sitting or lying. In this position he has to wait for our next command.

⏩ 𝗔𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
The easiest way to explain the intermediate command is if we use comparison with driving a car 🚗. So, if we use the ′′𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑏𝑦𝑒′′ and "𝐴𝑤𝑎𝑦′′ commans for our stering wheel, we're using the ′′ Stand ′′ command as if we have neutral gear in a car. Every time we want to change the direction of our dog's movement, 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱" 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗺𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄. That means that the dog slows down, turns against sheep and waits for further instructions. In this case, the dog is staying still for a relatively short time, because our goal is not to stay in this position for a long time - like when we move the gear stick from one to another gear and we are only in neutral for a short time.

❗️Of course, the 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

If our dog needs a standing stop, then we need to choose another word to name movement for an intermediate command.

Does it sound complicated? Well, it sure is 😅 But if we learned to drive a car, then we can do this too! 😎

ČAS ZA UČENJE! 🤓

So this is this year's gift that one of us got for St. Nicholas, but at the end we think it's true for all of us 🙈. Well, we would find ourselves also talking a lot about dogs, sheepdogs, herding sheep,.. 😅

Can you relate to that kind of a gift? 😄

Se še kdo najde v takem darilu? 😄

′′ Easier said than done ′′ is definitely ′′𝗟𝗮𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻′′ 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 which means that the dog lays down immediately. Why? 🤔

When dog works with an instinct, it's 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆. For him, complete stop means that because of his inactivity he will potentially lose sheep. He instinctively wants to keep them under control.

While teaching the ′′lay down′′ command we must be aware, that the 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹. Most often it's hard to stop because:
➡️ wrong position of the handler
➡️ wrong body language of the handler
➡️ wrong timing and
➡️ dogs very strong instinct to work with sheep and immaturity of a dog.

⚠️ That's why it's 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗺, determined and help a dog with our body the most.
Until the dog is matured enough, that he is able to actively listens to us while working with his instincts, we can also use a long leash or work in a pen. With this we get more control over the dog.

Just like the sheepherding in general, also the "Lay down" command teaches us above all 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁. 😊

When working with sheep and dog on long distances, it seems quite similar to driving car. You drive the dog to take the sheep where you want them to go.

In addition to the command ′′𝑤𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝑜𝑛′′ (which means walking straight forward), the command 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 is also very handy when guiding a dog.

But because a dog can be in different positions (before sheep or behind sheep), we don't use ′′left′′ and ′′right′′ to guide him, but we name the dog's movement according to the direction of the clock hand.

This is how we get to two orders:
➡️ ′′𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒚𝒆", which means 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲 🕐
➡️ ′′𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆", which means 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲 🕐
In which the middle of the clock always represents a herd of sheep. 🐑

For new handlers learning these commands can be quite difficult in practice. It can quickly confuse us that on the same command once dog moves to our left, and next time to our right side 🙈.

But, just like when driving a car, the best recipe is: 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁! 😄

When people first see us working with our dogs most ask:
′′ 𝑊ℎ𝑦 𝑑𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑖𝑠ℎ 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑠?" 🤨

Mostly to make sure, that commands we are using when working with sheep don't appear in our dogs everyday life. That is why it's easier for dogs to connect the commands with serious herding work.

On the other hand, english commands also come very handy to us as handlers in our education, because it is easier to communicate with people from abroad.

One of the 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 is ′′𝑤𝑎𝑙𝑘 𝑜𝑛′′ which means that dog walks in a straight line towards sheep.

Ko nas ljudje prvič vidijo delati z našimi psmi večina vpraša:
"𝑍𝑎𝑘𝑎𝑗 𝑝𝑎 𝑢𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑗𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒𝑠̌𝑘𝑒 𝑖𝑧𝑟𝑎𝑧𝑒?" 🤨

We have been encouraging our Anja to start using herding whistle with her dog Tuvalu for over a year. 🎶

𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑑 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑒 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑣𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑛 𝑏𝑖𝑔 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑜𝑔 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑢𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟.

𝑊𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑑𝑜𝑔𝑠, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑠𝑢𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑑𝑜𝑤𝑛, 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑠 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠, 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑛 𝑑𝑜𝑔𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑣𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒.

Well, when we finally convinced Anja that she started working with whistle, only this one got lost. And yesterday she finally found it - when the guy that came to repair washing mashine, he pulled it out of the washing machine! 🙈

What we have learned is that whistle is good to use, but when we put our clothes to wash, you have to look at all your pockets so that we don't wash it. 😆

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡? 🤔

Especially a dog that has an instinct for moving animals and a huge desire to work.

𝟏. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐭🐑
Dogs herd with the instinct that has been bred to them over a centuries of breeding. This means we can't teach them that, because they are born with it. But that doesn't mean they know how to use their instinct correctly - here is our turn to teach them. Even though it usualy doesn't look like this, herding livestock is teamwork - the dog needs support and guidance from a handler to successfully develop.

𝟐. 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤
It is also a natural feature and we can notice it when we have to keep a dog busy in everyday life. While herding, we can find this very useful, because a dog who wants to work is much more motivated to move animals. Consequently, we can teach such dogs much easier to use instincts because they won't quit working even when we give them rules.

❗️ These two ingredients are 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐬 of a good sheepdog.

Since we are in the process of learning together with the dog, we should always be aware of which instinctive solutions the dog gives us during training and when his solutions are correct, we allow him to satisfy his desire for work.

𝐒 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦 𝐩𝐬𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐧𝐚𝐣𝐥𝐚ž𝐣𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐩𝐚š𝐧𝐣𝐨? 🤔

Yesterday we spent the whole day, from morning to evening, at the pasture.

We first checked how Ajda and her little lamb Jon are feeling and it turned out they are great. 😎

Then it was time for some maintenance on the sheep house and for training dogs. 🐑🐕

And to finish the day, we gave the sheep a pedicure. 💅

Vacation always ends too quickly and so it was with our escape to England. 😭

We learned a lot in three weeks. 🤓
🔸 During the daily farm jobs we helped with the care of sheep, goats, cows and a horse.
🔸 We loaded, unloaded sheep in and out of the trailer and took a closer look at how the sale and purchase of animals is going.
🔸 We spent time with puppies (and spoiled them too 🤗)
🔸 We trained our and other dogs.
🔸 We participated in three trials and went home with third place from one (well done Luka & Free! ). 🥉

After all, we had a lot of fun and hope we can do it again soon! 🤩

Until then, see you at our pasture!
