Socializer in training Griffin has been her for just over a month. He has been passing all of his evaluations and hitting his milestones. He is a valuable asset and a great friend.

A while back, I was contacted about a possible pregnant stray. I told them that if they were able to grab her and bring her in, I would take her. A few weeks had passed, and I thought they had given up. This beautiful girl is a little confused and has a few small wounds but should be just fine. Please welcome Ariel to Street Cats to Sweet Cats Rescue.
She will be available for foster or adoption in about 3 weeks.

No mama left behind.

No mama left behind is something that I have stood behind during my entire rescue journey. Sure, some mama cats have to be TNR'ed(trap, neuter, return), but they will never have to have babies on the streets.

Mama Züri did an amazing job raising her litter of 5. We battled deadly sicknesses and pesky parasites. Through it all, Mama Züri remained the sweetest cat ever. She does well with dogs, cats, and older children. We are looking for a foster, adopter, or even a larger rescue partner to help her complete her journey to a FURREVER home. Please share far and wide so Züri finds a home for the holidays.

Can you believe some veterinarians and even rescue groups recommend euthanasia for cats with FIV. Did you know that Patches O'Houlihan and Murder Mittens Maurice both have FIV. Patches is a great asset to the rescue as he often helps socialize young cats and kittens. I am NOT worried about him passing anything on to the kittens because he is always gentle and does not draw blood when he plays. VETS AND RESCUE GROUPS need to learn and grow along this journey. The goal is to save a life not to unnecessarily end them.

Romeo and I love to relax on the couch. I was telling him how awesome it is to finally be safe, healthy, and off the mean streets of Newark. I was telling him about all the cats that I had saved from his neighborhood over the years. I told him that I thought he was a relative of Norman and even La Diabla(Darla). For those who have been following for a bit, who was your favorite cat to follow from our rescue? Was it Oscar? Was it King? Comment below with some of your favorites and I will share them in the stories.

For the past 11 years. I have been taking a chance on THEM. Giving them a chance at a safer life. A life filled with love and food and day to day care. If you have been following for a bit, you will notice I take the ones that many other huge rescues would say "NO" to. I have actually taken in a few challenging cats from other multi-million dollar rescues(Empress Sassy Schard,Amber,Grace,Ziba). I take the ones in that were left behind during other groups TNR(trap, neuter, return) projects(Gatsby,Selene,Archer). I have taken in others colony cats that need a little or a lot of medical help(Nero,Chester, Rudy). I have taken cats that were on death's door(Lilly and Poppy). I have saved cats whose chances didn't look promising. Saved almost all along the way. I have brought them into my home. I have slept next to their crates on the floor so they would know they aren't alone. I have built them a safe place to live and a catio to play in. I have laughed at their antics, loved them as they were mine, and cried when they left. Covered in cuts and old scars, I see them as proof of their transformation. From Street Cats to Sweet Cats is always the goal.

It saddens me, yet I am deciding whether Street Cats to Sweet Cats Rescue will remain open in 2025. For the past 2 years, our funds have always been low. Fundraisers haven't been reaching their goals. Food and supplies dwindle dangerously low. I head over to PetsMart and pull out my credit card. Just enough to get me through till the next food drive. I pay the electric, the water, and obviously the mortgage and taxes. There is no salary, and there is no surplus at the end of the year. To add insult to injury, adoptable cats sit and wait for homes for YEARS.

A great read.
