Really interesting video showing the difference that a tense lead makes to a dog approaching another dog (in this case a toy) I know it’s easier said than done to relax the lead in these situations but if it’s a practiced action with lots of alternative actions for your dog then it makes all the difference! Let me know what you think 🤔

Gorgeous 1-1 session yesterday with Sally sweetheart ❤️ there were a lot of distractions to cope with including barking dogs, loud children and lots of traffic but she did incredibly well to process it all and still look this cute for a picture!

This is Ruby - she’s just had a scary (for her) interaction where she met another dog. This video was taken a few minutes after this incident. I just wanted to draw attention to her body language - do you notice the stiff walk, tail sticking straight up , hair stood up on her back , sniffing the floor and right at the end she does a big shake off followed by a sneeze where the video stops- these are all signs of stress & discomfort. If I was to have continued the walk, she’s not in a state to learn as she’s too stressed so we called it a day. Your dog is constantly communicating how they feel, it’s up to us to learn to speak their language and adjust accordingly. What do you see with your own dogs body language?
