Did you know:
If you have a pacemaker, you can put it in your Will to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.
You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.

Chica was saved from the euthanasia list by a kind-hearted shelter volunteer who has been trying to find her a home to no avail. She has been living in a boarding facility for over 2 years and would love to find a home of her very own. She is sweet and has a calm energy. She does her own thing, a little stubborn, likes to just lay and be a couch potato and loves going for walks. She gets the zoomies every once in a while and loves chew toys. She loves belly rubs as well. She absolutely loves to go on walks and just laying on the bed or couch by her human and playing with the occasional toy. She is okay with dogs in a neutral setting line a play date, however not in a home where she has to share. She has a prey drive so no cats or small pets. No children as she needs to adjust to a home life first.

Chica is Up to date on all vaccines and heartworm negative.

Owner can transport anywhere in the US to the right home. Will come with $400 worth of toys, beds, collar, kennel and any accessories she needs.

Lee from The Asher House tells his personal story of reuniting with his lost dog Moo. He describes the very common mistakes he made before speaking with Babs Fry and explains why looking for a dog and calling for the dog when you see him disrupts the dog's own efforts to find his person.

In a nutshell:
If you see a lost dog, don't call for it. Don't try to approach it. Don't let it see that you even are looking at it. Instead, call the number from the social media post or lost pet poster and report the location. Doing anything else hinders the process of recovering a lost dog.

Basically:
A lost dog goes into instinct mode - survive and evade predators. Name recognition is not seen as a sign of help. That's why if you see your own lost dog and call from a distance, the dog runs from you.

A lost, scared dog views people searching for him and calling him by name as a threat. That's why lost dog posts all you not to call the dog or chase it.

The dog will attempt to return to from where he was lost. If you - the owner - are running all over the place looking for your dog, you are spreading your scent all over and making it much harder for your dog to get back to the last place where your dog was with you.

Stay at the place from where your dog was lost. Bring some rotisserie chicken and camp out, if needed, so that you are there when he returns. Alternatively, or if the dog doesn't know anyone (i.e. a lost shelter dog), use a trap. Be sure to learn how to effectively trap a dog before attempting this.

Super sweet Sasha can be a bit shy at first, but after all, she's been at the Azle shelter since March, but then she "loves with her whole body." She's passed her drug and cat test, but engender though she did tricks on her kennel and calls for you to come see, she's been overlooked. You can meet her at the Azle, TX, shelter.
