We had some nice weather a couple of weekends ago, the condo got a splash of color. This is still in-progress. More painting and trim coming.

Turtle has been laying almost daily. Her egg is so small, it doesn't fit properly in our egg holder. 😉

I saved the first egg's shell and will join the others.

Whoo hoo! A few days short of her 5 months hatchday, Turtle laid her first egg on Friday, 9/1/23.

Congratulations Turtle, our Golden Laced Wyandotte. 🥳

(She actually laid it in a bucket, across from the nest boxes, but that's out of view. She went to check out the other eggs laid afterwards.)

Rough start to the day, lost Raptor this morning. AKA Floppy-Top.

One of our originals.
One of the best snugglers.
Super sweet.
Very opinionated.
Couldn't catch her if she didn't want to go to bed.
Loved cars.
Loved looking out windows.

Move-in day! Our 18yo moved in to her dorm yesterday and last night, the 3 new birds were placed in the big coop at bedtime. The Orpingtons have been pretty good with their new mates, just a little pecking order activity.

16 hours later, Sprite was comfortable enough to enjoy the dirt bathing spot!

Cuckoo Condo has a couple of new neighbors, Mango and Cirrus.

Brought out the old starter coop, cleaned it up, and set it up by the coop condo. Starting the introduction, acclimation, and integration of the new little ones. Giving ourselves the summer for the process.

Breed Highlight: Turtle. She's a golden-laced Wyandotte. Docile and good temperament for a chicken pet. Cold-hardy and maybe chatty.
