South Australia's first earthdog tests for 2024! The Earthdog Advisory Committee looks forward to seeing you there.

We will be running TWO training days this year - BUT each training day is for different dogs!

On SATURDAY 20TH APRIL we will be inviting 'less-experienced' dogs to attend.
-10AM - Dogs who have competed in earthdog but not gained a pass
-12:30PM - Dogs new to the sport
(We will continue working dogs until we run out of dogs!)

On SUNDAY 21ST APRIL we will be inviting experienced/successful dogs to attend.
-12:30PM - Dogs who have received at least one pass in earthdog.
(We will continue working dogs until we run out of dogs!)
Due to limited time and resources, we are sorry, but we can't accommodate dogs outside of these times.

The training day is at the earthdog area at David Roche Park (Cromwell Road, Kilburn).

To partake in the training day, it is $5 per dog with unlimited retrys.

We do not have a RSVP system, but instead ask you to take a ticket as you pay. This can sometimes mean there is a bit of a wait before you get a chance with your dog, so please be patient. Once your dog has had a turn, you're welcome to get a second ticket (at no cost) and rejoin the queue, giving your dog a bit of a break before they have another shot.

We suggest bringing:
-A chair
-Sunscreen and/or raincoat!
-Water
-Something your dog really likes - treats or toys
-$5 cash per dog

If you would like to attend to just observe, that's quite okay, too.

Triple tests, hosted by The Terrier Club of South Australia, are now open for entries.

The Terrier Club of South Australia will be providing triple earthdog tests on the 17th June 2023. Entries are open until 12th June.

We have had some last minute changes to our training day and, though we will be running as advertised, things may not be as smooth as we hoped... !

We are one helper down for some of Saturday and all of Sunday, and this may mean that everything is a little bit slower.

We just ask for you to bring some extra patience. :)

Just a reminder that:

We are so pleased that Shadow's Farm Photography will be at attendance at our training days (Saturday and Sunday NEXT week).

It costs nothing to get photos taken (in the tunnels or candids if your dog is just looking beautiful), and then you can purchase your photos online afterwards for $10 each - if you like them. :) If you want multiple photos there are discounts for bulk purchases.

We really appreciate Shadow's Farm attending and ask all our trainees to make sure they check the website to see if there's any photos they love enough to buy.

Tunnelling True: Perfecting tunnel entry for your earthdog

Training tunnelling behaviours for new and experienced earthdogs, delivered by earthdog judge and trainer Tegan Whalan.

If you are starting at earthdog, wanting to start at earthdog, or if you're currently trialling at earthdog with a dog that is failing, this seminar is designed to help you and your dog prefect the tunnelling aspect of the earthdog trial.

This seminar is suitable for both beginners just introducing tunnelling for the first time, and for those who are trialling who are wanting to refine their dog's tunnel entry.

The seminar covers:
-Successful first introductions
-Troubleshooting a beginner dog (reluctance, backing out, corner hesitancy)
-Speedy entrances (& fixing dogs who fluff around!)
-Hidden entances
-An opportunity for questions

The seminar is designed and run by Tegan Whalan, Earthdog judge since 2008. Tegan holds Certificate III in Dog Training and Behaviour, and is a qualified and registered teacher and trainer. Tegan has trained four border terriers to Earthdog Champion level, and has titled thirteen dogs in total in earthdog. She also partakes in other sports like tracking, dances with dogs, and conformation.
