Our colleagues at Angus & Friends Cat Rescue are looking for volunteers to help with their kitties 😸 If you can give them a hand or would like more information, please text their Executive Director, Deborah MacDonald, at 510-909-4961 (or leave a message), or send her an email at [email protected]. Thank you 🙏

🆘 Volunteers Needed to Socialize Cats in Castro Valley!! At 75, our director, Deborah, is finding herself a bit overwhelmed as well as having some mobility issues, and could use volunteers to help with the cats she cares for at her house. This is very much the same types of things one would do if volunteering at a shelter, only on a smaller scale, to include socialization, feeding, and some cleanup. Help is especially needed Sundays through Wednesdays.

Deborah is great to be around, will direct you clearly and would be very grateful for anything you are able to do!

If you have an extra hour or two a week to volunteer to help her and socialize kitties, it would allow her to focus on the myriad things she needs to be doing to run the rescue!

Please, especially if you live in or close to Castro Valley, text Deborah at 510-909-4961 (or leave a message), or send her an email at [email protected]

💖 CONCORD, CA: Hi, my name is LITTLE (CP)! I was given that name because I was the smallest in my litter. I also have short little legs! My fur is black, but when you look at my coat in the sun, you see tabby stripes!

My sisters and I were rescued from a backyard when we were just a month old. We were taken in, cared for, and bottle-fed by a good Samaritan, and we are thriving!

I’m sweet and very loving, and my foster mom says I’m just a perfect little girl! I love playing with my sisters and with other cats. I’m friendly to all cats and want to be friends with any cat I meet! I love my toys and like to carry my springs and other special toys around with me.

I’m truly a happy little cat and am always purring. I do great with children. I have not been around dogs.

I was born in approximately July 2023. I have been spayed, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and am up to date on my shots.

I am living in a private foster home in Concord, California. If you would like more information about me, please send an email to my rescuer, Kelly, at [email protected] and she can tell you all about me!

FRESNO, CA (Transport May Be Available): LILY & LULU (CP) are very sweet and affectionate kitties who love attention. Lily is more of a mellow, relaxed kitty, while Lulu is more energetic and active. They are both lap cats who love to cuddle and “groom” their humans!

Lily and Lulu were born in approximately May 2020, are good with children, and do well with calm dogs. They have been spayed, microchipped, and are up to date on their shots.

Lily and Lulu are currently living in a private foster home with their rescuer in the Fresno, California, area. Transport may be available to adopters within 4 hours of the Fresno area. If you would like more information about adopting Lily and Lulu, please contact Gabriela at 559-406-0954 or [email protected].

Please Note: These cats have not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV, to our knowledge. Potential adopters should confirm the cats' status with their rescuer and should consult with their veterinarian for recommendations regarding testing.

🙏 PLEASE SHARE: HONEY GIRL (CP) and her siblings have been living in a cat colony for over a year! They have a safe and secure shelter to protect them from the weather, but they are so ready for a real home! They are in need of either a foster or foster-to-adopt setting and can be placed together or separately.

Honey Girl is a long-haired white & grey female beauty with one green and one blue eye; she is possibly a Maine C**n mix with some Ragdoll also! Honey Girl has a super-sweet and loving personality – she purrs when stroked, massaged and brushed.

Honey Girl is close to her siblings Percy, an adorable gray & white male, and Brandy, a handsome Russian Blue-mix male. Watch their video here: https://www.instagram.com/p/C3IBVcsrgtf/

Honey Girl was born in approximately March 2021. She has previously been spayed and vaccinated; her vaccinations will be brought up-to-date before placement.

MODESTO, CA: Meet POLO (CP)! 🐾 Polo was just skin and bones when he was found in a cat colony in April 2023. He was taken to the vet where they found all of his blood work to be healthy -- he just needed dental work. Polo had a few teeth pulled and has since cruised through his recovery like a pro. He gets along well with other cats but would also do just fine as an only pet. He loves to snuggle and play whenever he gets the opportunity.

Polo was born in approximately July 2018. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on his shots. He would do well in a home with other cats and children; no dogs please.

This is a Courtesy Post, and Polo is with the Cat Network of Stanislaus in Modesto, California. For more information, please contact Monica at [email protected] or 209-735-0604. Visit their website at http://catnetworkofstanislaus.org.

💖 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA: Shadow and Chinchilla (Chin Chin) are a sweet bonded pair of lovely kitties that were rescued together from a large cat colony. They appear to be Maine C**n-mix cats, and are probably mother and daughter. They both have amazingly loud purrs!

Shadow and Chin Chin’s rescuer, Sara, provided us with this description of the girls:

“Shadow was born in approximately May 2014. She's very small for a Maine C**n mix (about 6 pounds) and has gorgeous all-black fur. She loves to be brushed and petted and often meows loudly. Her fur is curly, so regular brushing is needed to keep mats from forming. She's even gotten used to stand-up brushing of her belly and will jump onto the cat condo so I can reach her more easily. Once there, we sometimes touch noses. She's the sweetest girl. She's very docile and calm once she gets familiar with you and the household. She doesn't even run when I vacuum. She's also very good about eating oral flea medication with tuna or sardines.

Chin Chin is gray and white and was born in approximately May 2016. She's a bit flighty and will run away at first, even from me, but comes back as soon as I start petting or brushing another cat. She returns even faster when I'm dispensing treats. She is very playful and chases balls and other toys around the room. She even has a regular morning romp with another cat from the colony.

Both girls are going to be shy at first with new people but with patience and gentle talking, treats and eventually brushing, they'll come around. Both of them have purrs that practically shake the house. I can hear Chin Chin purring from another room, and she'll start even before I touch her. Shadow starts drooling when she's purring. It's so cute!

There's no way of knowing for sure, but I believe they are mother and daughter. They are definitely a bonded pair. Both are in good health. I give Shadow daily hairball gel and Chin Chin a powdered probiotic in her food. They are good about using the litter box and grooming themselves.

Shadow and Chin Chin have both been spayed and will be up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption. They are good with other cats. They might be okay with older, respectful children, or with a very calm and cat-friendly dog."

This is a Courtesy Post, and Shadow and Chin Chin are living in a private foster home with their rescuer Sara in Hercules, California. If you would like more information, please contact Sara at [email protected].

Please Note: These cats have not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV, to our knowledge. Potential adopters should confirm the cats’ status with their rescuer and should consult with their veterinarian for recommendations regarding testing.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA: SHAY (CP) (formerly called Pippy) is a sweet young female tabby seeking her forever home. She is affectionate, and enjoys pets and snuggle time. Shay also enjoys playing with string, ear massages, and eating. She can be shy at first, but food will help her to bond with you.

Shay is a mellow and quiet kitty who desires to be her humans’ only cat. She would do best in a quiet, one- or two-person household without other pets. Watch Shay's video here: https://youtu.be/U9dL3-YpjiQ (This video shows Shay outside before she was brought into a foster home.)

Shay was born in approximately October 2022. She is healthy, has been spayed, and will be up to date on vaccinations prior to being adopted. Shay has tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Shay is living in a foster home in El Sobrante, CA. To learn more, please contact her rescuer Marcia at [email protected] or 510-734-9924.

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA: Hi, my name is TAYLOR! I’m a 7-year-old buff-colored male with super-soft fur and beautiful light gold eyes! Did you know? Buff kitties are relatively rare, and we’re known for being friendly, affectionate, and playful.

UPDATE: BUBBA (CP) has been Adopted!

🆘 SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA — COURTESY POST — BUBBA (CP) needs a home ASAP, please share! Bubba is a super friendly and playful teenager! He follows his humans around like a dog and is not shy at all.

Bubba was found wandering on a deserted road in North Fontana by a woman who does independent cat rescue and TNR. She has posted signs everywhere to find his owner, to no avail, and unfortunately, Bubba’s chip is unregistered. She will be taking Bubba to a clinic this weekend for updated vaccinations and to confirm that he has been fixed (he is ear-tipped).

Bubba is an approximately 10-month-old male and appears to be in very good health. He’s a long and lanky teenager with a very long tail, and will probably grow into being a big boy. He eats both wet and dry food and is litter-box trained.

Bubba has an outgoing personality. He’s talkative, loves to play, and is not skittish. He will make a wonderful pet for someone!

For more information about adopting Bubba, please contact Barbara at [email protected] or 909-815-8076.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA: DINAH (CP) is an adorable young kitty who came from the streets of San Jose, where she had been living in a homeless encampment. After disappearing for a couple of days, Dinah showed up with a gash on her head and unable to see. A kind rescuer took her in, and in that calm, loving environment, Dinah bounced right back!

Dinah is a very sweet kitty with an affectionate nature who greets her humans with little meows and loves to receive attention. Her favorite activities are receiving ear and chin rubs, snoozing against your leg, and chasing crinkly toys. Despite having limited vision, Dinah still loves to play and is surprisingly good at catching the end of a cat dancer. She is also very keen on Greenies and has been known to tear a bag open to retrieve the treats herself if her humans don't offer them to her!

Dinah was born in approximately November 2022; she is spayed, vaccinated, and has been treated for fleas, worms, and common parasites. She will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Dinah would do best in an adults-only home, but would probably be okay with older, respectful teens. She needs to be in a setting without other animals as she does not like cats. Dinah should go to a mellow, relaxed household where the residents are mindful that her partial blindness means that she may react with fear to unfamiliar objects or environments.

Please note that Dinah is being fostered in the North Bay near Santa Rosa, and prospective adopters should be willing to travel there to meet her.

This is a Courtesy Post, and Dinah is with Angus & Friends Cat Rescue in Castro Valley, California. For more information, please text (preferred) or call Deborah MacDonald at 510-909-4961 or contact her via email at [email protected].

🐈‍⬛ CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA: PANDA (CP) is a beautiful short-haired black male kitten with expressive amber eyes. Shortly after being rescued, he began to meow and to allow chin and neck rubs, and now will roll over on his back, knead the blanket and purr. Panda loves human attention but is still on the shy side. Watch Panda's video in the comments below!

Panda was born in approximately August 2023. He is healthy, has been neutered, and is up to date on his shots. Panda would do well in a quiet adults-only home, or with older children. He would be okay as an only cat, but he would be happiest with another cat companion; no dogs please.

This is a courtesy post, and Panda is living in a private foster home in El Sobrante, California. For more information about Panda, please contact his rescuer, Marcia, at 510-734-9924 or [email protected].

Please Note: This cat has not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV, to our knowledge. Panda’s rescuer, Marcia, will have him tested prior to adoption. Potential adopters should confirm the cat’s status with the rescuer and should consult with their veterinarian for recommendations regarding testing.

😸 Butterscotch is dropping in to wish you all a Happy Caturday! Somehow, Butterscotch had ended up living in a cat colony, although he was very friendly and had clearly been someone's pet. He was fostered and then adopted by ARCC volunteers AJ and Sarah. As you can see from the photos, Butterscotch is doing great and has made himself right at home!

Butterscotch is FIV+ meaning he has tested positive for the feline immunodeficiency virus. Did you know? FIV+ cats can and do live long and healthy lives! They can live together with cats who are FIV negative so long as they are introduced properly, get along, and do not fight, as the virus is primarily transmitted by deep bite wounds.

😸 CASTRO VALLEY, CA: BEAU (CP) is definitely a lover; his long, lanky body just melts on your lap! It’s a joy to watch him play -- he is just so carefree! He has two distinctive features: a small goatee on his chin, and a round button on his tummy. He purrs at one look from you. Even if he is playing, he is always ready for pets, cuddles and purrs. Watch Beau's antics here! https://youtube.com/shorts/fld3jE8_fQA. And watch him grooming his buddy Ford (who has been adopted) here: https://youtu.be/1LAPvQYE0HI

15/04/2024

CASTRO VALLEY, CA: GARFIELD (CP) is a sweet 4-year-old kitty who, sadly, was abandoned at a pet-food store a couple of nights before Christmas. While he is feeling somewhat bewildered and doesn’t understand what has happened to him, he is adjusting quickly. Garfield is starting to trust people again, enjoys petting and cuddling, and is a "purr machine!"

Garfield is obese but has lost some weight on his controlled diet of quality weight-reduction food. Ideally, Garfield would be fostered or adopted by someone who has prior experience helping overweight kitties. He needs someone willing and able to watch that he eats only what will allow him to slowly and gradually lose the excess weight. Training may be provided to a foster/adopter who has little or no experience with obese cats.

Garfield was born on approximately December 8, 2019. He has been neutered, and will be microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations prior to being adopted. He would do best in a quiet home with 1-2 adults and no children.

This is a Courtesy Post, and Garfield is with Angus & Friends Cat Rescue in Castro Valley, California. For more information, please text (preferred) or call Deborah MacDonald at 510-909-4961 or contact her via email at [email protected].

Angus & Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue organization in Alameda County, CA. Visit their website at https://angusandfriendscatrescue.com/

Please Note: This cat has not yet been tested for FIV/FeLV, to our knowledge. Potential adopters should confirm the cat’s status with the rescue group and should consult with their veterinarian for recommendations regarding testing.
