The herbs we use are extracted in Australia to the highest standard under strict quality control to ensure that the herb extracted is the correct species, and that extraction is of the highest quality. Alcohol
The herbs are extracted into a mix of water and ethanol- these two liquids representing the pure and natural solvent that enables the highest nutritional value of the herb to be extracted. Without the alcohol, many valuable soluble nutrients and oils would be missed in the process. The small % of alcohol also acts as the preserving agent, giving Animal Botanical’s extracts and formulations a long shelf life. The liquid product is therefore pure, with no added chemical or artificial fillers and is easily and readily absorbed into the animals system. Safety
Animal Botanical’s™ herbal extracts are extremely safe. The dosages represent the smallest quantity required to achieve a positive result. The dosage can be increased tenfold if desired; however, this is not required under the Dorothy Hall system of herbal prescribing that Animal Botanical recommends.

New Zealand dog diet study a wake-up call for dog nutrition

This is what we advocate 'real food for dogs'; the independent New Zealand study – only the second of its kind in the world – found the high meat diet is easier for dogs to digest, means more nutrients are able to be absorbed, and resulted in higher levels of bacteria associated with protein and fat digestion.

Yesterday's post sparked some messages about what types of natural therapies can help with behavioural problems. Most commonly Helen uses flower essence remedies and homeopathy. Both are termed vibrational remedies with homeopathy being more deeper acting and certainly Helens " go to remedies" when behaviour is presenting as a real problem for the owner and the animal himself and time is of the essence. Separation anxiety where self destructive behaviour results, would be where homeopathic remedies can really help. The remedy is selected based on the overall personality of the animal,taking into account the affinity that remedy has for a variety of mental symptoms. Usually high potency remedies are used in those situations.Tailored flower essence remedies work quite well for the puppys or animals with milder challenges, as do herbal remedies like Relax by Animal Botanical, which Helen stocks and prescribes, but these do have to be given more frequently.The use of essential oils with animals has previously resulted in quite a bit of confusion via social media as to whether their use is toxic for some animals or not. What is the most important thing when using oils is to use good therapeutic grade oils. Only a few drops are needed, and diffusing is the best option initially and then spritzer sprays can be used that are also infused with flower essences. Spray a diluted oil and essence blend into your hands and run through the coat of your animal. Flower essences and essential oils are accessible to the general public, and with some knowledge and skill you can look to help your own animals with their emotional health and wellbeing, alternatively contact Helen and a tailored remedy and /or spray will be made based on using a behavioural inventory.
