I am able to do groundwork lessons with people over 185 lbs, but still must be able to be able to move quickly in case we need to move away from a horse.

I teach kids 4+ and adults.
My weight limit for ridden work is 185 lbs (I have smaller horses), but am always more than happy to teach a ground work lesson to anyone who desires equine connection but is over my horses weight limit.
My requirements are that you are physically capable of squatting, and walking/running, quickly in case you need to move away from a horse, and do not need extra physical assistance to mount/dismount beyond having a mounting block (not including small children under 60 lbs who need to be lifted on). You also must have basic core strength and balance.
If we’ve never spoken before, please give me a call so we can make sure we are a good fit for each other. Thank you!

This week I’m heading down to Sonoma County to take a 9 day intensive Equine bodywork course and I am so excited AND nervous at the same time!
I can’t wait to apply what I learn to my clients horses, and expand my offerings into bodywork.
Wish me luck as I embark on this journey! I have never left my horses or my cats for this long before 🤣 Wish I could take them all with me. I’ll be back to teaching lessons on October 2nd and look forward to seeing all my students when I return!
Thank you all for your love and support over the years and always being supportive of my growth ✨ I’m forever grateful that I have the best clients around!

Thanks to all of my clients who’ve stuck with me through this transition, I have such deep gratitude for you all.
Huge shout out to Eve Freedman for this magical photo ✨
It was a beautiful, magical day exploring themes of consent, boundaries, and belonging today with the incredible staff at .
My take away of the day was the power and beauty that unfolds when we honor ourselves and what we bring to the space around us, which then allows our herd (horse and human) to truly hold and support us.
Thanks for having me and trusting me to lead you today Wild Souls!
Just a shoutout to this woman right here. She came into my life almost a year ago and brought hope back into my world. I had 3/3 horses lame or off, I had spent thousands of dollars trying to figure it out, I was recently divorced, feeling pretty defeated and lost both professionally and personally.
First off, she congratulated me on my divorce, which was both shocking and relieving and it spun my brain into a healthier mindset about the whole thing, and for that I’ll be forever grateful.
She gave me a missing link that I had been searching for for years! In one hour she helped me get my young horse with a mystery lameness completely sound and moving better than ever, and in another hour she helped my older gelding release tension I never thought he could release and basically turned him into mush (I was afraid he was going to bite or kick her because that’s how he reacted to other body work and honestly everything at that point). Since meeting her I’ve been integrating what I’ve learned from her with every horse I meet, because I could never go back now. I’ve been able to help horses in a way that I didn’t even know was possible because I have an even deeper understanding and empathy for them. I have SO much more to learn, but that is the beautiful part of working in the equine industry.
So thank you Celeste for seeing me, believing in me, guiding me, and being such a beautiful friend. I’m so grateful to have you in my life and my horses lives.
What do you do when you feel like you are getting into a fight with your horse?
Pull harder? Show them who’s boss? Run them in circles? Make the right thing easy and the “wrong” thing hard?
How is that working for you in the long run? Does your horse come to you in the field, do they get more relaxed when you halter or bridle them, do they understand what you are asking of them and respond softly and with relaxation?
My guess is that if you use those methods mentioned above it doesn’t feel good (it at least didn’t to me)
So what should we do when a horse starts to “fight” us on something we are asking of them?
🛑 STOP 🛑
And I do not mean don’t set boundaries for your physical safety, what I mean is step away, or let go of your brace on the rein, breathe, and then….
RESET.
1. Acknowledge and own how you are feeling. (Your feelings are your responsibility, and yours alone)
2. Obverse the environment around you. Are there factors that could be influencing the horse and sending them into one of their natural responses of fight, flight, or freeze?
3. What objective behaviors are you noticing in your horse (ears forward, head up, tight neck, ect.)
4. Given all of this information, what’s the best way forward that honors both your emotional and energetic state AS WELL as the horse?
Diffusing tension, and taking a moment to honor the horses natural response to either an environmental factor, or to us as their handler will help you go farther faster, but you must slow down enough to listen first.
There is always a reason for a behavior, and it is our job as handlers to figure that reason out to the best of our ability. This does not mean that every session will be easy breezy beautiful, it does not mean that we are looking for “perfection”, it means that through clear boundaries and strong intention for helping the horse achieve optimal balance and strength we will become better listeners who can respond to our equine partners instead of fighting with them. The trust and bond that is formed out of that connection is beyond words. It is my mission in life to help people find that 🤍
I made myself a new logo!
In this time of transition I wanted to change my business name, and therefore my logo to reflect more accurately what my business is becoming.
✨Because I’ll be more mobile, having the word “Ranch” in my business name no longer made sense, and because I’m a one person show I decided to include my name in the business.
✨I decided on “equine connections” mainly because what I do now does not feel like horsemanship or training, but really connecting with the equine and forming a mutual relationship built on empathy and trust. From that place, I believe the possibilities are limitless of what you can do with your equine.
✨If you don’t already know this about me, I absolutely love Mules and Donkeys, so I wanted my new name to include them too. ♥️
✨ The image I used is one my mom took of me and my horse Nick who has pushed me to start integrating mindfulness and bodywork into my work with equines.
As usual, I appreciate you all for sticking with me through my transition and growth of my business! If you have any questions about my new offerings feel free to reach out!
Todays before and after of Django’s first session! I’ve been learning since January and have been finding so much joy practicing it with my clients! If you haven’t already, I HIGHLY recommend following her and checking out her work. To say it is a game changer is an understatement.
My favorite piece of her work is how it affirms that stillness and holding space is not only valid, but essential for helping equines feel their best around us humans and all we ask of them.
These pictures are about 40 minutes apart practicing the BTMM and some massage to help release tension in targeted areas. To me his facial expression on the second picture says it all ♥️
Timmie and I spent all day yesterday learning from and we both learned so much!
I love continuing my education and refining my horsemanship skills because I truly believe staying in the learners seat makes me a better teacher (also learning is so fun!)
I look forward to passing along all the nuggets of knowledge to my students!
When you teach autonomy to both your students and your horses… sometimes the results are better than your wildest dreams.
For this lesson my student came in and informed me she wanted to do a “barn day”, which I usually do in rainy days, but welcome at anytime. She had a whole plan laid out, grooming, and stall cleaning! For one whole hour we played, learned, found our comfort zone and pushed passed it jusssst a little and laughed and laughed!
When we limit ourselves with agenda, and expectations, we miss so many opportunities for magic like this to happen.
I truly believe that we are all both teachers and learners, and those roles should always be fluent. ✨
Happy 8th Birthday (approximately) and 4th anniversary Gypsy Rose!!! She is the reason Song Horse Ranch exists! The amount of lives she has touched and the lessons she has taught in her short life have been incredible, and I’m forever grateful she chose me as her human. I love watching her teach lessons! She truly enjoys her job.
She’s currently recovering from an injury, so send love her way! Hopefully she recovers faster than last year ♥️

There’s something immensely satisfying watching a student you trained from the beginning (only started a year ago!!!) ride a horse you started under saddle (not even 2 years ago), trot around this beautifully together. The amount of hard work this student puts in every single lesson is impressive, and a true testament of the concept that “you get what you put in”. #proudteachermoment #haflinger #horsetrainer #ridinglessons #connectionbasedhorsemanship
One of my main intentions for my program is to practice things not going as planned, and empowering each student to work through and find the solution without me stepping in. I of course will step in if they need it, but part of my job is to gauge when to back off and let them handle it, and when to step in. A lot of the time I will ask my student what they feel they need, help or space to work it out. Now that I’ve had most of my students for 2 years, I have this amazing group of kids who can clearly tell me what they need and what they want to explore next with their horse partner in their lessons. It makes my heart sing!
I had the honor of attending @travelinghorsewitch online master class yesterday and it put so many pieces together! I attended her clinic in September with Nick and Timmie and it really changed how I ride and teach for the better, and now I have an even better understanding of her work. Due to a rainy day today, everyone got to learn about the thoracic sling, abduction, and how to ask for correct abduction steps in hand. I love passing on a strong foundation and understanding of anatomy and correct movement to my students beyond just “getting on a riding”. There is so much to learn, and I am always on a path of continued education too ✨ #balancethroughmovement #travelinghorsewitch #horsemanship
I love playing with my students and my horses in lessons. I truly believe that play and laughter will help every student develop into a calm, relaxed, and informed rider. It brings me so much joy to laugh and dance and sing with my students and watch them become independent riders. ♥️ This video features Runa (who I’ve taught for 1.5 years since she was 4) and I singing and having fun with Gypsy the spotted unicorn. #ridinglessons #horse #horses #happyhorsehappyrider
I am so damn proud of this kid. She has put in so much hard work and determination not only in this ride, but every single ride for the almost 1.5 years she’s been riding with me. She has worked through fear, some pretty big horse spooks, and even Nick cantering/galloping with her when he got excited about the kabota with hay driving away from him (sh*t happens with horses). But no matter what happens, she always shows up the next week, fully present and ready to go. She embodies the intention that I held and still hold for Song Horse Ranch. My heart is beaming 🥰✨💖 #songhorseranch #connectionbasedhorsemanship #horse #horses #proudteacher
Vulnerability Alert 🚨 A few months ago I was at a loss with this horse. He had a lameness that we couldn’t figure out, I was and am currently going through a divorce, I didn’t know how I was going to pay for everything he needed if surgery needed to happen. I was in full doomsday mode, but I still had the same gut feeling that I had the day I met him that he was meant to be in my life. Long story short(ish), with the help of my parents, my awesome barn community, my students, the team of vets at NCVH, Tara @unbridledgoddess, and Celeste @travelinghorsewitch , my baby horse is back at it. I’m taking things very slow and methodically, but today brought me so much joy watching my talented student ride and have so much fun with this sweet and talented horse. It takes a village to run a mindful, ethical, authentic, and vulnerable horsemanship program, and I am so grateful for everyone for being a part of this dream of mine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -George #timmiethewonderpony #horsemanship #connectionbasedhorsemanship #haflinger

I don’t post many videos of me riding on here, but I just had to show y’all Gypsy’s progress. We are both so happy she’s coming back into work! I love this mustang so much 💞🤩 #mustang #lessonhorse #recovery
Gypsy’s BAAAAAACK!!!!! After 5 long months, Gypsy is starting to come back into work slowly. Everyone, especially Gypsy, is so happy 💖🦄✨ #bestlessonhorse
So proud of these two awesome kids! This is the longest they’ve maintained the trot both going at the same time. Zip and Hancock are a good match for them too 💖🦄 #ridinglessons #happyhorsehappyrider #horse #horses #humboldtcounty #northcoast
