You’ve heard about the Gila PARCA…but do you know about the Gila Monster?
Ironically, the Gila monster is not found within our Gila PARCA, but the two different subspecies - the Reticulate and the Banded - can be found in different parts of Arizona and live in several of our PARCAs. The Gila Monster is the only venomous lizard native to the United States, but despite its status as venomous and its dramatic name, really this h**p is less a monster, and more a slow-moving critter that prefers to keep to itself. Its fierce appearance and large size, combined with many pioneer tall tales, have led it to be wrongly persecuted, impacting its population size. However, in 1952, the Gila monster became the first venomous animal to be given legal protection in the U.S., and it is now protected in all states it resides in.

Bobtails eat a wide variety of plants and insects, but prefer mostly plant matter. They are slow- moving creatures so require slow-moving meals! They have love for flowers, gorging themselves when they have the opportunity. Strong jaws allow them to crush snail shells and beetles easily.

Frilled dragons come from a very warm environment so they struggle with the cold of Captivity. To insulate against this we recommend keeping the dragon in a wooden vivarium. Due to the temperature gradient required we would normally select an enclosure as close to 4 x 2 x 3ft as possible with large vents and glass sliding front doors.

A single knob-tailed gecko should be housed in no smaller than a 20” x 10” x 12” enclosure, or a standard 10 gallon tank. However, larger is recommended, and the gecko will make good use of the extra space.
Cohabitation (keeping multiple knob-tailed geckos in the same terrarium) is not recommended, and may result in fighting if attempted.
