Bonnie got through to the second day of the GRC open trial at the Amptom estate. But unfortunately we went out with three other dogs on an extremely difficult bird tucked into cover.

Up to that point she had been extremely clean on all her retrieves. And Picked an absolutely fantastic runner that she coursed from one cast halfway up the crop field. An absolute pleasure to watch, as were many of the dogs that were there.

Although I was extremely disappointed to go out, I was very pleased with her performance overall and happy to get a trophy for the best retrieve on a runner.

Huge congratulations to my friend Karis Bakewell on her win and we truly wish her all the best of luck for the championships. Her dog Ferdy is a superb animal. Well done mate.

The spaniel club open at stapleford today

Another second for Lindowmoor hurricane.
I also bred the 3 rd placed dog Lindowmoor cherry handler by Ryan Tomlinson

Proper spaniel ground and a very difficult trial with 12 very good dogs finishing all with good runs.

Extremely proud of him today he was fantastic. Once again, just didn’t get the luck

Thanks to all involved with the club and to the judges for their time.

This will be Clyde’s last season trialing now whatever happens in his last 2 trials.

Well done to the winner Barry Farley. And good luck at the championship 👍

Cracking day out working the dogs today in the Cheshire countryside. Had five of them out, but these two were the dream team this afternoon.

Eastern counties golden retriever club a couple of weeks ago.

Greenfoot blossom at Lindowmoor ( Bonnie) came away with third place and Guns choice. Unfortunately, I made a handling error on the final retrieve which cost us dearly according to the judges.

Nevertheless, I was pleased with her overall for her first trial this season having no previous game training prior to starting this trial

Congratulations to the winner, Andrew wright. Best of luck in the opens.

Think twice Viking ( oak) ran in his first trial today with myself. This was hosted by the south west golden retriever club.

We finished with a close second and guns choice.

It’s was a driven trial with mixed drives of duck and partridge.

Oak picked all his retrieves in exceptional manner. And I was particularly pleased with his control and game finding ability.

The 3 rd drive of the day was over an hour long with our leads off and was incredibly difficult.

Well done to Jon Debnam the winner. And good luck in the opens mate.

Really proud of him today. Hopefully we can improve on this next time.

Time is running out! We are still short of entries for our Two Day Breed Open Field Trial, being held on 7th and 8th October. The draw takes place this Saturday, 7th September. Everyone in the breed wants to see as many Golden Retrievers at the IGL Championships as possible - this is a 'golden' opportunity to qualify.

Retriever Field Trial Experience Day
with Stewart North

On Saturday 14th September 2024 near Stapleford, Lincs


A unique experience with Stewart North - B Panel Judge & Field Trial Secretary for both Retrievers & Spaniels. Stewart has competed for many years and qualified for both Retriever & Spaniel Championships, one a few handlers to Win with Black, Yellow and Chocolate Labrador Retrievers.

Stewart has very kindly donated this day to the Club

This not-to-be missed event offers invaluable insights and live examples for anyone contemplating Field Trialling for the first time in 2024-25 season or those who have had minimal experience competing at this level.

Spend the day with Stewart and experience what it’s like to run in a FT Day. Run as a walked-up day with dummies in sugar beet, including:

• Field Trial etiquette
• What to do when you arrive
• What to expect in the Gallery
• Variety of retrieves with your dog

Whilst this is NOT a training day, after each retrieve Stewart will explain what you would have scored and why. He will also suggest what you could do to have improved your performance. This sort of information is exactly what you need to get trial ready.

Places are limited to 10 handlers with dog
Your dog should be FT ready and have no eliminating faults

Cost is £65 for members and £80 for non-members.
