DNA COLOR TRAIT TEST RESULT CLARIFICATION:
(B LOCUS: LIVER/CHOCOLATE COLOR)

There’s been a confusion going on with the DNA color trait test results when it comes to interpreting if the furbaby is LIVER or LAVENDER or carrier.

So the confusion is with the B Locus (Liver Gene), which has at least 3 variants that is being tested in Orivet. These are the “deletion”, “stop codon” & the “insertion”. Base on my knowledge & understanding, these 3 variants are the parameters for Liver Color, meaning a (b/b) or (B/b) results in any of these 3 variants makes your furbaby a LIVER or Carrier of Liver respectively. But there are some who says otherwise, that the only parameter for Liver gene is the “stop codon” variant.

Since all my babies are DNA Tested, & it came to my attention recently that I’ve been reading or interpreting the results incorrectly, which I personally doubt. I decided to ask directly the geneticist of Orivet Australia, which I believe is the expert on this matter. And according to him, Liver is NOT SOLELY BASED on “stop codon” but a combination of brown SNP (variant).

So for more clarification, i sent my Miira’s DNA Test Result for him to interpret correctly. (I chose Miira’s Result because I interpreted her result as Cream with Tan Markings & Lavender Pigment, with her “stop codon” as B/b & “deletion” as b/b).

And according to George (geneticist of Orivet), my Miira is “lilac” or what we call lavender in shih tzu world, which makes her blue & LIVER basically, with her b/b in deletion variant.

From this, I could confidently say that my interpretation on DNA Results is in fact on point & not misleading or like some would say parallel to scamming.
