This pear tree we raised from a little sapling right after our first born entered the world. By the time our youngest arrived, she was bearing fruit. As the boys got taller, so did she. My middle son loved to climb in her branches.

I would have had a hard time leaving without her.

One year she just died. We don't know why. She was doing so well. She seemed big and strong. We didn't do anything differently. I guess it was just her time.

We harvested her branches and trunk for our fire pit
And when she was gone
So were we
