This sweet girl has to see the vet tomorrow. After last years fiasco with literally having every organ in her body s**t down due to regular vaccines we will no longer be doing any vaccines with her. She is strictly indoors and has had so much trauma in her lifetime already. We do make sure she gets a check up still to make sure her heart is still on track. She was once an orphaned 10 day old, bottle fed baby that came into our lives to now being a boisterous and loving 3 year old that has brought us so much joy ♥️

Don’t mind the mess on the floor because she certainly is not. Her favorite thing to play with ever... hair ties, the nylon fabric ones! She will do this for hours or until she looses it under the couch.

I have many who continue to ask me about Barry. She is still the BEST! She melts my heart. She has started to overgroom herself a bit in the area they made her biggest incision so we are working hard to break her of that. She is so loving and when she finds me sitting she quickly climbs to my lap and uses her front paws to hold my face while she licks the top of my nose. ♥️

Say some extra little prayers. Barry went in today for her spay. They had her on a heart monitor the whole time and the vet said everything went well. I picked her up at 3pm and since we have been home she has been very angry. I know she has been through so much the last few months so it is expected. Pray she is pain free very soon.

Just a quick update: Barry has been doing so great! She and I couldn’t be more pleased. She isn’t going to like me come Monday because she is going in to be spayed. She is healthy and stays indoors but we don’t want any mishaps nor do we want to contribute to the already over populated kitty population.

Barry is now on the all clear list. She is full of s***k and loving life. She received a box of goodies from a special supporter (Thank you Jan)and she immediately jumped in to investigate! She loves the blanket. She is definitely a blankie kitty. Our next task is to get her spayed as we don’t want her having any babies. She is strictly indoors but if she ever got out I dont want that worry. Thank you all for keeping up with her.

Barry is doing amazing since heart surgery! She is climbing and jumping around and always FULL of energy. She is back to loving her snuggles. She use to tire pretty easy but now she goes like the energizer bunny. This morning I woke up to this:

Update: 13 days post op Barry’s stitches were removed today and she is cleared for normal activity. Blessings all around! She is now able to run and play, not short of breath and she should live a very long and healthy life as far as her hear is concerned.

Update: Did she really have heart surgery!? Well ya can’t make her believe that today. She wants to play and jump and act as if nothing ever happened. We are a week out and she is doing so good. Incision looks great, her attitude is great. She just wants to be released from restriction.

Sorry I haven’t posted updates so quickly but it has been a little time consuming with Barry. Lastnight was rough as she was “demon kitty”but it was certainly expected as she has been through a lot. I want to express a sincere THANK YOU to each and every person that donated towards Barry’s surgery. You all have helped give her new life. I am ever grateful for each of you. I never would have set up a Go Fund Me but her cardiologist urged me to. I gave it a shot and I just told the truth as it was. I held nothing back. I made sure everyone had the facts and I even included invoices and documents from the cardiologist. I NEVER want anyone to think it was a joke or a scam. In no way was I trying to take advantage of anyone. Your donations truly went 100% to Barry’s surgery. The total bill for surgery was $4846 and GFM collected after fees $2500 and the balance was paid by us. Your kindness helped us save this sweet girl. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this sweet fur baby and how much she has done for me mentally. No one can ever truly understand how I hurt from losing my mom. She was more than just my mom, she was my bestfriend. I know mom had a hand in Barry finding me. This sweet fur baby has a fur ever home where I will do anything I can to make her life happy and comfortable. I am not one that ever really asks for help, I just don’t! However, I am glad I did and I know I have so many that care. My husband and I have always helped others, sometimes loaning money that never gets repaid. We always try to do for anyone that may need a little help wether it be good, shelter, ride to work, help with the yard, or bringing smiles to young men and women far from home. We give without ever expecting anything in return. I never expected the GFM to really raise anything but I was very surprised. Again, I cannot say THANK YOU enough♥️. She is home!!! ♥️ Surgery went well and she should be able to live a long and happy life now. Her heart is sounding great. I will say she is not a happy girl at all. I have never seen her so mad. She is hissing and growling and scratching and biting. She has 4 meds to take for a bit and I have no doubt she is uncomfortable. I am so use to being able to cuddle her but tight now she hates me and could scratch my face off. It’s okay, it will hopefully pass as she begins to heal more each day. Back in 10-14 days to remove sutures and a cardiac follow up in 3 months. Who knew this little orphan kitten would take my heart and run with it. I am so thankful for all of your support, love and prayers! Without each of you this would not have been done. This little fur baby means the world to me 🐾❤️.

I called to check on my sweet girl tonight. They said she is doing well. She is tolerating the chest tube and still very groggy. They have offered food but she didn’t eat, they will try again. I just want to go hold her and love her. They said she is young so she doesn’t really understand why she feels like she does. She knows something has happened but she doesn’t really know why. I hope I can bring her home tomorrow. I promised I would keep her restricted.

UPDATE: PRAISES AND PRAYERS ANSWERED. She is out of surgery and everything went well. Her vessel was
very small and therefore took a lighter touch and slower hand to avoid tearing. Dr Gauthier from CVRC just called and said she is awake and groggy but she has a nerve block in place and other pain meds keeping her comfortable. She has a drain tube they will try to remove tonight and if she can be pain free with oral pain meds then she may get to come home later tomorrow and must be crated for 2 weeks. Thank you all for all the support, love and prayers. Now all I want to do is sleep well tonight and bring her home tomorrow. The Dr will call before he leaves tonight to give me another update. CVRC has been amazing so far 🐾♥️

♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾 TODAY IS THAT DAY! I just dropped my sweet girl off... she was a little upset she couldn’t have any food. She is first up in the OR so I will update as soon as they call. I hate that Covid has restricted so much because it’s hard to just see someone carry her away. Say some prayers! She is my heart ❤️

UPDATE: GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. Barry says thank you so much for all the prayers and support. We went to see the surgeon this morning and because of the storm he has a crazy schedule so.... we discussed the surgery in detail and the surgery will be done on Wednesday. They said I could leave her there today or bring her back at 7:30am so we are going home. No way am I leaving her if I don’t have to. The take in that early and the surgeon said he will call before he starts the surgery and immediately after. They said it’s an invasive and serious procedure and they take pain control very serious with these surgeries because it is very painful for them. The use nerve blocks as well as other options. She will have a drain tube in place for a while just as a precaution. He said the vessel that they are dealing with is one that shouldn’t be there so the biggest challenge is bleeding. The surgeon said it’s a 50/50 chance that they are pliable and hold up well. She could quickly bleed out if it tears. They do take every precaution to avoid this happening. Due to the pain it involves they will not spay her at the same time as this is something we want done ASAP. When she gets home she is on 2 weeks rest! This picture was from lastnight in bed. This is what she loves most... cuddling♥️🐾 This little girl is such a sweetheart. Tomorrow is the day and I am nervous for her. Today will be low key and full of cuddles and kisses.

Barry says today is a dreary rainy day thanks to hurricane Isaias so all she wants to do is relax and nap with one of her fluffy blankets for comfort.

This sweet girl just loves and continues to love. Every night this is where she is when we go to bed. She is very persistent on giving kisses, especially at 4am ❤️🐾 I am so lucky and thankful she came to be in my life.

Barry went to her regular vet today to get her final kitten shots. She is now allowed to go ahead with surgery. We still have a ways to go with her Go Fund Me. Please share her GFM in hopes that we can get the word out to make sure she is taken care of properly. Barry and I send a big hug and an even bigger Thank You for everyone’s support so far ❤️🐾

My sweet girl has slept a lot the last two days so I think it’s important to get her scheduled as soon as we can. I called today and she has been scheduled for August 4. We will see the surgeon that day to discuss the surgery and they will keep her overnight for surgery on the morning of August 5. If all goes well she will be home Friday, August 7. I have paid the deposit of $2423 so now I have until August 6th to get the rest so I can bring her home. This is where she has been sleeping all day today since I moved her from my lap (not that I wanted too but I had to.)
