Day 4: Pampering, Cantering and Bonding
Collected both ponies from the field for the first time. Tiggy (as usual) choose to ignore our existence despite Princess walking over nicely (good girl!). On going to leave without him Tiggy realised and exibited the 'Muummmmm wait for meeeee' move.
Tiggy resembled a hippo havening evidently enjoyed the fields so got a good pampering.
Princess managed to brake her twine twice, drag me into Tiggy's stable twice and gave me a signifigant workout attemping (and mostly failing) to pick up her back feet. Definatley seems to prefer a calm quiet approach - vet to check before we start some behavioural work!
Despite this we did some lovely in hand work - working through both our nerves with a bigger baby pony and hers with new people, new yard. Really pleased with her progress and how responsive to voice she is.
Continued progress in the sunshine.
Ponies collected from the field - check. Despite some initial evading Tiggy complied and Princess followed suit (was rather worried I'd be chasing two of them round!).
Vet checked over Princess, signed her off and confirmed no apparent nasties in her feathers - desensitisation to be started in earnt. Note to self - much easier to control a cob trying to evade you in a stable where you can only really go in circles.
In-hand work - check. Much improved listening to Melrose to the point they were trusted to lap the school on their own.
Ridden work - check. Melrose rode beautifully. Princess is very responsive to the leg which is (somewhat!) different to Tiggy. After a couple of laps in walk to check breaks Melrose was happy to trot off and at the end was doing laps of trot-walk transitions on her own.
Ended with some much deserved love for both ponies.
