Luna Loving Ruby The Groomer!
LUNA had her very first spa day ever and Ruby the Groomer made sure she enjoyed every moment! Luna is truly the dog everyone is looking to adopt… she is absolutely perfect. Luna is housebroken, social, sweet, loving, and loyal. She rides great in the car, she walks well on a leash, and she is so good anywhere you take her… especially lunch with the girls. Luna gets along with other dogs, is great with kids, she loves to cuddle, and all Luna wants is a family to call her own! We rescued this amazing 2 1/2 year old, 45 lb German Shepherd from Costa Rica Dog Rescue last month. We made sure to get Luna the FHO surgery she so desperately needed to fix her dislocated hip. She has recovered beautifully and is now ready for her perfect forever home! If you are interested in making sweet Luna part of your family, email [email protected] for an adoption application and please put Luna in the subject line.

Foxy and the Hounds, Hope for Paws, and Costa Rica Dog Rescue!
Thank you Eldad and Hope For Paws for inviting us to bring these deserving dogs to the brand new Cares Hospital for the best Vet care possible. Foxy and the Hounds is so excited to have rescued these 5 amazing dogs from Costa Rica! When rescues work together… we save so many lives! Thank you Scott from Costa Rica Dog Rescue for your hospitality and all the hard work you do to help so many dogs in need. Welcome Charly, Sophia, Luna, Billy & Millie to Foxy and the Hounds!
RIP Lazarus! These posts are never easy, but we need to let everyone know that Lazarus has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Foxy and the Hounds rescued this sweet boy from the shelter several months ago and he captured the hearts of so many. His body looked completely burned and he spent 10 days hospitalized at Mid Valley Vet. Lazarus was diagnosed with Lupus and he would have some good days and some bad days.
His amazing fosters Bob and Hari DeLava loved and cared for Lazarus the same as their own dogs. This video is from last weekend where Lazarus was lucky enough to go on a family vacation with them. Bob is an angel and gave him daily medicated baths and took him to an auto immune specialist each week for the past couple months. Hari cooked for Lazarus and spoiled him rotten. This is a dream home for dogs and our little guy scored big time!
Lazarus started to decline a few days ago and Bob rushed him to the Vet. He didn’t even make it into a room as Lazarus took one big breath and died in Bob’s arms. It was shocking and unexpected, but it was also fast and peaceful. And my wish for all dogs is that they are in the arms of the ones who love them the most when they cross the Rainbow Bridge.
I want to thank everyone who followed along Lazarus’ journey and while this was not the outcome we were hoping for… we are forever grateful to Bob & Hari DeLava for giving him the best few months ever. What a gift to leave this world knowing you mattered and were so loved! RIP Lazarus!
MIKO PUPDATE!
Our little Parvo puppy had a rough few days in the hospital, but this little guy has such a will to live! Miko is a teeny 3 lb, 9 week old, male, Husky pup. We went to visit Miko today and he was bright and alert, and that makes us so happy! He’s going to be just fine but still needs a couple more days in the hospital, and then Miko will be ready for a Foster or Adopter! If you are interested in fostering or adopting this gorgeous boy, email [email protected] for an application and please put Miko in the subject line.
Parvo survivors microscopicaly shed the virus for a few weeks after they come home, so he will need to be adopted into a home with fully vaccinated dogs or with no other dogs. Miko should be kept inside at all times for a few months until he has received all 3 rounds of puppy vaccines. We always say… don’t touch the ground until the last round, and pee pads will be your best friend! Sweet Miko is going to be so ready to leave the hospital and we really need to find a foster or adopter…. Will it be you?

RIGO IS WALKING! My heart is so happy right now! When I ask for donations and say this will be the best gift you can give today… I mean this will be the best gift you can give today! Because of YOU… Rigo is walking, and you should feel so good to be part of changing his life forever!
I saw a heartbreaking post to help this hurt puppy in Tijuana. His owners didn’t care that he got hit by a car and wouldn’t help him… and then they just left him in the street unable to walk. Foxy and the Hounds arranged transport for Rigo to Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital and found out he had a badly broken femur and his pelvis was broken in several places. Dr. Pitt & Dr. Barrett consulted and while amputation would have been the easiest option, Dr. Barrett believed there was a possibility to save Rigo’s leg… and so that’s exactly what we did! Two major orthopedic surgeries later, 3 weeks in the hospital, and one final surgery to go in 6 weeks… Rigo is walking, feeling great, and is doing Ah-May-Zing!
Rigo is just a puppy and has his whole life ahead of him… and we are excited about his future. We will keep everyone updated when he will be available for adoption in a few months. Thank you Anne & Kevin Mattson for fostering this sweet boy for us during his recovery. Thank you to everyone who donated and made this possible. Thank you to Dr. Pitt and the amazing staff at Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital for taking such great care of Rigo. It takes a village for sure and we have the best one!
LOOK AT RIGO! Our broken puppy we rescued from Tijuana is all tail wags! After 2 major surgeries, Rigo is feeling so much better and is starting to put some weight down on his legs. He will need assistance with the sling for a few more weeks and then he will have his last surgery in a couple months. But, just look how happy Rigo is… this makes my heart sing!
Thank you to Dr.Pitt and the awesome staff at Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital for taking such great care of him. They say Rigo is most definitely a hospital favorite. We are hoping he will be discharged soon and will keep everyone updated as always!
RIGO PUPDATE!!!
We thought we could wait, but Rigo is having labored breathing and is in pain. He is having a hard time, and we just couldn’t wait until tomorrow. His condition worsened and waiting until tomorrow could mean the difference between life and death! He is on his way from Tijuana to Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital right now! Dilan Ramirez is amazing and is making the drive for us from Tijuana to our Vet in Van Nuys, so that we can take over care and save Rigo’s life!

I saw a heartbreaking post from my friend Rigo Camacho to help this puppy in Tijuana. His owners didn’t care that he got hit by a car and wouldn’t help him… and then they just left him in the street unable to walk! I can’t even tell you how many people I hate in my day, but to leave a defenseless, injured, scared puppy just laying in the dirty street is beyond cruel and disgusting!

I know I say it all the time, but it truly does take a village! I messaged Rigo last night and told him Foxy and the Hounds would take this pup if he could find transport from Tijuana to Mid Valley Veterinary Hospital. He put me on a group chat early this morning and Dilan Ramirez said she could bring him tomorrow to our Vet! Linette Rodriguez kept him safe all night at her home and bought him to Dilan later today. Dilan was going to transport him to us tomorrow, but she knew he was in severe pain and took him to a Vet there and we made sure Rigo got a pain injection and I asked if she could bring him to Mid Valley tonight and she is on her way now!
I called Elizabeth at Mid Valley, and she arranged to have one of the vet techs stay late tonight for his arrival… When I say it takes a village, I mean IT TAKES A VILLAGE! There is no doubt Rigo will receive the very best possible medical care with Dr. Pitt! He has some pretty extensive injuries and we all know it’s going to be expensive. If you are able to make a donation towards his medical care, it is so greatly appreci
MEET BANDIT!!! #A2104789
This little ball of joy was deemed Rescue Only at the shelter because of a bite during a walk with his owner. His family had Bandit since he was a puppy and surrendered him to the shelter at almost 8 years old! Look how amazing and fun Bandit is with Officer Gabie at the Los Angeles West Valley Animal Shelter. She said, “there was a bite incident where his owner was picking up poop and having both dogs on leashes. Bandit jumped from one side to the other, and bit a lady walking… But you have to meet him, he is not a biter. He is super playful for his age, cute and a happy guy”!
This story just pissed me off and I will never understand how anyone dumps their dog like this. So, Daryn Sandler and I went to the shelter on her Birthday Friday and got Bandit out! There is nothing Foxy and the Hounds would rather do on a Birthday than to save a life! Bandit has shown no signs of aggression and has been nothing but sweet and wonderful. His little cotton ball tail is absolutely adorable and his personality is so bubbly. Bandit will be 8 years old in May and is listed as a Shih Tzu mix, but we think he is more of a Westie/Maltese mix. He weighs 15 lbs and is friendly, social, and ready for adoption. If you are interested in fostering to adopt or adopting Bandit, email [email protected] for an adoption application and please put Bandit in the subject line.
