DEBBIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED… BY ME!!!
DEBBIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED… BY ME!!!
Well, It’s official… I am a Foster Fail! Volume up to see Debbie’s reaction when I ask her if she wants me to adopt her! I truly had every intention of finding this special needs Dobie the perfect forever home, but it’s been 2 years now and Debbie is exactly where she is supposed to be… with ME! Love this first adoption of the New Year!
For those of you not familiar with Debbie’s story… Foxy and the Hounds rescued her at just 2 weeks old from Ventura County Animal Services Camarillo Animal Shelter. I bottle fed her, I cried with her, and I knew something was very wrong with her. Here is the link to a post we made of the first 6 weeks of her life when the neurological defects were very obvious: https://fb.watch/wT5fxul9Wk/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Debbie had an MRI when she was 5 months old and was diagnosed with Congenital cerebellar malformation, cystic structure causing right sided cerebellar changes. In laymans terms; Debbie’s brain is malformed and she has a fluid filled cyst on the right side of her brain, but it is not the kind of cyst that can be drained or removed.
Debbie is a miracle and absolutely amazing! She is truly like a toddler in so many ways and always will be. She is comforted by those she knows, and is trusting, happy, innocent, tenacious, kind, goofy, uncoordinated, loving, curious, clumsy, funny, and like a bull in a china shop. Her ears have a mind of their own and Debbie makes me crazy every day. But, she also makes me laugh every day and I love her to pieces! We rescued Debbie when she was just 2 weeks old and 1.9 lbs, and now she is 2 years old and a beautiful big girl at 80 lbs. My heart is full and I am so happy to officially make Debbie part of my family forever!
If you have followed Debbie’s journey or just love what we do at Foxy and the Hounds, I hope you will sign up to be a monthly Foxy and the Hounds $8.25 donor for 2025! Eight Twenty Five Saves Lives! If you have not yet signed up
Writing the last Foxy post of the year is always very emotional for me. We had an incredible 152 adoptions in 2024! While it was not a record breaking year, we rescued so many medical and behavioral dogs and placed 152 of them in their perfect forever homes… that’s what it’s all about!
Foxy and the Hounds focuses on rescuing abused, injured, sick, abandoned and neglected dogs, as well as the ones at risk of euthanasia in our shelters. My heart is overflowing watching this video of all the dogs and even a cat that we saved this year. The smiles on the new families faces and seeing the transformations of the dogs we rescued is truly everything!
A huge thank you to my spectacular team, Randi Rivera, Jessica Ord, Kele Greene, Daryn Sandler, Tracey Wolfson, Sandy Spees, Ralph Rivera and Bob Ingalls! Everyone worked so hard this year to help us save the ones that need us most! Thank you to all of our fabulous adopters… you are the last piece of the rescue puzzle and we thank you for giving our dogs the very best forever homes. Thank you to all of our wonderful fosters who open their homes and hearts to our rescues until we can find them the best homes ever… fosters truly save lives. Thank you to Ruby the Groomer for donating so many spa days and making our rescues look and feel their best. Thank you to our fantastic Vets for taking such great care of our dogs. Thank you to our shelter workers, networkers, transporters, and volunteers who come to help at our adoption events. It takes a village for sure and we have the best one!
Thank you our very generous donors and the grants we received from The Cause Connection, Janine Quint, David Quint and the Quint Family Foundation, Pam & Tyler Stroupe, Brett Sutherlin, Eldad from Hope for Paws, Heidi Hamilton, Nancy Ricks, Lois Koch, and one incredibly generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous, but we know who you are, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
And, the biggest thank you ever to all of Y
9 puppies living on the railroad tracks in Watts SAFE and ready for adoption with Foxy and the Hounds!
MEET DEAN, FRANKIE, SAMMY, JESSICA, SARA, JOSH, JACK, TEDDY & EVELYN!!!
I got a message a couple weeks ago from a fellow rescuer Rannveig 'Ronnie' Krokdal about 9 puppies living on the railroad tracks in Watts. We were overflowing at the time and I told her we couldn’t help. But, then I could not stop thinking about these precious puppies and seeing their little faces in the pics she had sent. So, a couple days later I asked her if they still needed help and she told me they were actually clearing out the homeless encampment where the puppies were being watched and they were going to just let them go. My heart hurt even thinking about these puppies being left to fend for themselves. I knew we needed to help and Ronnie worked so hard and got all 9 puppies for us and then met us at our vet. This is why I always say it takes a village!
They all had exams vaccines, baths, microchips, and testing done at the hospital. Many were malnourished and fecals came back positive for Giardia, for which they have all been treated. They are doing amzing now and Frankie has already been adopted! We are having a Puppy Palooza Adoption Event tomorrow, Wednesday, December 18th from Noon - 2:00. All info for the Event is on our previous post. Come meet Dean, Sammy, Jessica, Sara, Josh, Jack, Teddy & Evelyn, and many more pups of all sizes tomorrow, and bring love home!
SAMMY & DEAN are super cute 4 month old Husky puppies. Sammy is a girl and Dean is a boy. They are so sweet, goofy, funny, independent, loving, and ready for a home for th holidays!
JESSICA, SARA, JOSH, JACK, TEDDY & EVELYN are super cute 10 week old Shepherd mix puppies. They are playful, happy, affectionate, loving and just want a family to call their own.
