We have a new addition to the farm. Our first calf was born today. Her name is Caroline.

We have been fostering some adorable kittens from our local animal shelter. They will be up for adoption in a few more weeks if anyone is interested in adopting please let me know. We are in Summerville SC.

We have been busy with gardening and chicken hatchings lately. Several have asked about rabbits lately. I was trying to downsize and keep a 2 holland lop does and 2 angora does for breeding. I was hopping my nests boxes would be full right now but none of my does were successful at delivering kits for various reasons. I am rebuilding with some new breeders and will hopefully have some litters available this fall. This is one of the new holland lop does. She needs a name and I am open suggestions. She came from Raised With Grace Rabbitry

Cows love pumpkin season

This is a sad update but I feel that it’s important to share all the ups and downs of “farm life”. We lost the entire litter of English Angora rabbits. The last one passed away last night. It turns out mom’s milk supply was short lived and we tried to supplement and bottle feed the last two once I realized what the problem was but it wasn’t enough. This was Pumpkin the last kit, he made it to day 10 with bottle feeding for 4 days.

Thanks to all the broody hens this summer we also have overflowing brooder boxes with chicks needing new coops to rest in. Silkie mix, polish mix with D’Uccle, green egger mix with Cochin .

We have a few broody hens who have successfully hatched 6 eggs this week. There is several more more eggs they continue to sit on.

I went to lock up the coop this evening and found 89% of the chickens in the tripod because the coop door got shut on them before they could get in. How many chickens do you think are in the tripod?

So happy to see some fresh fruit and veggies in the garden. I was hesitant to start a garden this year thinking I didn’t have the time to care for it but so far it has done well. Already planning to expand next year.
