The More You Know Thursday: Genetic Fulfillment 🧠
AKA, allowing your dog feed into their natural instincts, and well, be a dog!
This can be done in many ways, and much of this is breed-specific depending on what job your dog was created to do.
But, the simplest way to provide any dog with genetic fulfillment is to get them out in nature and allow them to dig, run, chase, pick up sticks, splash in the water, smell, explore, and get downright dirty!
Think about it! We domesticated a wild animal to live in a developed world. Furthermore, lots of us have working dogs designed to herd cattle, retrieve or hunt game, or protect livestock living in a house and only going for walks on a short leash on paved roads.
Problem behaviors such as chewing shoes, chasing cats, digging holes in the backyard, pulling on the leash to get to a smell, etc. are often products of your dog being unfulfilled in their daily life.
Get your dog out in nature. It’s therapy for both parties 🌳
