Routine exams and joint maintenance is crucial to maintaining soundness in your equine partner. Here, one of Dr Fordham’s clients was presenting with some hind end stiffness, so he injected her hocks to ease the inflammation. After a few days off to allow the medicine to work, she’s feeling great!

Fordham Equine wishes our clients and friends a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again
May you keep safe
In the gentle loving arms of God
For everything there is a season
A time for meeting
A time to say goodye
In all things
God is near
Always guiding your way.

With the weather getting warmer and longer days, we hope all our clients can fit in more saddle time. Fordham Equine recommends assessing your horse’s saddle fit and back comfort for any changes that may have occurred since fall.

Reminder: Join Dr Fordham on tomorrow’s Tuesday Talk where he will discuss the equine vet industry and how horse owners can be more self sufficient.
Join us tomorrow! It’s free, fun, and informative!
PSA! If you have one of these creatures, please monitor their grass intake. With the rain this week, spring grass is really shooting up putting the minis at risk for founder.
Fordham Equine recommends using a grazing muzzle for your minis or turn out on a dry lot if you can accommodate.

Attention all clients: thank you for the continued support of Fordham Equine! To better serve our clients and patients we have a few new policies everyone needs to be aware of-
1- All clients must complete a credit card authorization form ahead of or at the appointment to keep on file. Your card will be kept on file and used for all future charges unless you specify and provide another form of payment. If you do not wish to keep a card on file, payment must be completed in full before the end of the appointment. We accept cash, checks, and Venmo in addition to all major credit cards.
2- Effective next Monday August 7th, any medication requests need to be made by calling our office and selecting option 3. Leave a voicemail and we will get back to you by the end of the day. If you need medication within 24 hours a $20 emergency fee will be added to the price of the medicine. If you need medication delivered to you, a farm call will be charged. Being a %100 mobile practice, medication pick ups require a lot of after hours coordination. In the future we hope to have an office open during business hours to help with this issue! We will still offer sales of prescription medications at appointments and through our online pharmacy. Links to our pharmacies are below.
3- This is not a new policy but a reminder: please do not text the business line after hours for an emergency. We do not consistently monitor texts after hours, weekends or holidays. If you have an emergency, please call our number, and select extension 1. We would hate for an emergency call to go unanswered because a text was missed after hours!
These policies have been put into place to ensure the best customer service is provided as we continue to grow. We appreciate every one of our clients and patients and truly love what we do, working with horses and their amazing owners!

It's feeling like spring which means it is the perfect time for routine vet work on your horse! We recommend a yearly exam, rabies shot, coggins, dental float, and sheath cleaning (for the boys!) and twice yearly EWT/WN/Flu/Rhino. Ask your barn mates to join in on caring for their horses and you can even split the farm call. We look forward to hearing from everyone!

It's going to be a cold one! Make sure your horses have access to water, hay and shelter. Adding electrolytes and warm water to their feed is always a great way to ensure your horse is getting the proper hydration, but shelter, water, and hay are going to be the best ways to keep your horses warm and happy!

Did you know that PulseVet Shock Wave can treat multiple kinds of equine injuries and pain? Shock Wave treatment is fast and easy, usually under 5 minutes with no sedation required. The treatment stimulates cells and releases healing growth factors in the equine to reduce inflammation and swelling, increase blood flow, help bones form and heal and enhance wound healing. #shockwavetherapy #equineshockwave
I’m sure everyone has had a busy week. With the rain clearing up, we hope you get to spend some time with your horses this weekend!
