Hello FB Friends! We hope everyone is safe and healthy. During the stay at home order many shelters are working on a limited staff and without volunteers. We will be visiting a couple shelters this week to drop of enrichment items for the dogs. Please consider donating. Items will be shipped directly to us.

Bored during all this "social distancing"? So are all the pups in our states shelters. A lot of shelters are working on limited hours, staff, and volunteers. Less staff and volunteers means less time out of the kennel.
Please consider purchasing an item off of our wishlist and we'll make sure a dog in a shelter gets your gift ASAP! If you're really bored, please consider fostering for a shelter or rescue.

One profession that cannot slow down or stop during the corona virus is animal welfare professionals. Shelter staff still must report, volunteers are needed more than ever, and rescues are still on our streets and fostering. Let's give a shout out to our animal welfare professionals and pray they stay healthy.

Please keep your dogs on leashes while in public places, such as parks and local trails. Your dog might be great off leash but what if he/she approaches a leashed dog that is not great with other dogs? Some dogs are terrified of other dogs, but they have just as much a right to walk on those trails as your dog does. Please keep your dog on a leash friends :)

We are looking for certified (CPDT, ABCDT, CBCC, etc) dog trainers that would be interested in taking "on-call" paying jobs at our local shelters/rescues. GCBF's trainers are certified force and fear free trainers. We care not only about treating the dogs humanely, we believe in establishing a relationship based on trust and not fear, power, and control.

Dogs trained with aversive methods are less likely to show a ‘secure base’ effect.

Thank you to everyone that has given us a like and/or share this past couple of days. You sent us from 100 likes to over 400 in 24 hours! That means A LOT to the dogs that will end up in our care! I checked the 501(c)3 status again today, name has been approved and it has moved on to the next stage! Just a matter of days before we are official! (I secretly check about every 15 minutes).

The GCBF is dedicated to supporting the behavior needs for dogs that may not be functioning well in a typical shelter environment and support dogs in rescue that need extra training. Free of charge to the shelter or rescue. That's the key here, FREE. OF. CHARGE. Because our shelters and rescues are already drowning in medical and daily fees.

Thank you to everyone who has given us a like already. We have a long way to go but we have to start somewhere! I'm told our 501(c)3 status should be approved between Feb 3 - 17th. I'm working on some fundraisers and grant searching while we wait. Y'all be the first to find out when that Certificate comes in!!!

Let's talk about our name for a sec, The Genesis Canine Behavior Fund. Genesis: An origin, creation, or beginning.
OUR center will be a new beginning for every dog that walks, or is carried, through our doors. Their new lives will be created.

I hate to rush things but I feel like I'm in a hurry this time. I'm sure it's my passion that is fueling it, and I'm going to trust my passion to make sure the Genesis Canine Behavior Center happens. Our 501(c)3 should be approved within the next two weeks. Once that happens, we will start fundraising and secure a building for our "underdogs". Yea, people might call them underdogs, or bad dogs, or someone else's problem, but the dogs will show us their true potential, and then a deserving family will be lucky enough to adopt these babies.
