A Week late, but Jaret and I picked up this special girl last week and she will become a permanent member of the DGC family. Everybody say hello to Curly, the spider ball python. For those of you that don’t know, spider ball pythons very commonly have neurological issues causing their heads to constantly “wobble”. This girl doesn’t quite wobble, she corkscrews her head as she moves- hence the name “Curly”. She is an absolute sweetheart of a snake and I’m so happy to have her in the family. For somebody who used to pick on ball python keepers, I sure do have a few of them 🤣🤣🤣 But everybody wish Curly a warm welcome to the DGC fam!

A few months back I picked up these Coachwhips, which if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love me some coachwhips. After I got the chance to hold one and learn more about them at Rexpo a few years back, I’ve been hooked. After a few months of quarantine and treatment, they’ve finally been settling in and making great progress. These guys are wicked fast and can be super spunky so it made the first few weeks of handling quite the treat 😂😂. I’ve always love this species and was so lucky to be able to pick them up. let’s hope for a clutch next season 🤞🏼

We’ve come a long way!

Really big full circle moment for myself this past Monday. Those of you who know me, know that I grew up OBSESSED with all things scales. Any chance I got, whether it was playing outside all day catching frogs and snakes or sitting directly in front of the TV watching “The Crocodile Hunter”, I was always mesmerized. Growing up, every now and then there would be reptile shows near myself hosted at the surrounding libraries. The very first event I ever went to was at the Cortland Free Library, where they were hosting Dan The Snake Man. I remember right then and there, I decided that’s what I wanted to do when I was older. I wanted to educate and entertain people with animals, but reptiles specifically. This past Monday August 2nd, I had the opportunity to do a small show for kids at the very library I used to go to as a child to get my animal fix! I will be uploading an album containing all of the photos from the event within the next couple of days, so if you or your child were involved, keep an eye out!

Why did Jaret have to get me into geckos 😂😂😭😭

I pick on him all the time for it, but I’m so glad he did. There are so many species of geckos out there and each one fascinating in its very own way.

Below I’ve posted just a few of the geckos we’ve got at the house. When we get back from our little field trip, I’ll post the others!

The bearded dragon that was surrendered a month or so ago has shown no signs of poor health and went to his forever home last night! Couldn’t be more happy that he found a great home where I can check on him whenever I want. Another animal off to live out the rest of its long life with a great family. Not a whole lot in this world makes me feel the way successful rescue scenarios do!
