Tentatively putting a little post up just to say hello! As most of you will know, Maumfin Moments have been on a little break after I found out I was expecting a baby at the end of 2021. It was absolutely the best decision we could have made and the time focusing on our young and growing family has been exactly what's needed. We're not ready to reopen just yet and it's likely that when we do, it will be a little different from before but I have plans and slowly but surely I am figuring out how to reopen on some level whilst maintaining time for family life.

I am regularly contacted by previous clients who are waiting patiently and eagerly for the opportunity to come back to us and I am so grateful for you all. It means a lot to know that there's a bunch of you ready to support us as soon as we're ready and for the patience whilst I've been adjusting to many changes in our personal lives!

I don't have a date yet, but we will be back and I hope to start being able to share a few updates from the herd and life behind the scenes at Maumfin 🦄

🎄 Christmas pony camp 🎄

Saturday 18th December 9.30 -12

We are delighted to be taking bookings for our Christmas pony camp, the camp will be a non-ridden morning jam packed with ponies, crafts and Christmas fun. We'd also like to extend the invite to the families of our pony campers and so will have some festive treats and a chance to meet the ponies for family/friends coming to pick up from 12- 1

* MIDTERM DATES/ PONY CAMP *

We are just putting together our timetable for midterm, if you are interested in a lesson or a pony camp/mini camp day please let me know! Heading off into the sunset on our holidays.... just a reminder that the yard is closed until Saturday 21st August. We will be back on the Saturday with a mini camp, perfect for children ages 4+ running from 10 - 1 places are filling fast so be sure to book in soon!

Plaiting pony tails at camp this week.

Apologies to all those waiting on replies from me this week, it's been a super busy week with pony club camp and regular lessons scattered around that so I know I haven't managed to get to everyone's messages yet. I will work through them now over the weekend and also post up the timetable for the last of the camps coming up!

The yard will be closed from this Monday 9th until Friday 21st inclusive and we will be then on Saturday 21st with a mini camp (plenty if spaces still available).

More details to come and thank you for all the support and your patience while we try to juggle everything, we wouldn't be so busy without you all 🤗

Last minute spaces available for our mini Camp at Maumfin tomorrow, Tuesday 27th July. Perfect for children aged 4 -7 , come and join us for 3 hours of pony care, riding and games. No previous experience required!

16/7 10am - 2pm Maumfin Mindful Moment - a half day pony camp focusing on mindful connection with your pony

23/7 'Mini' camp - aimed at ages 4-7 , a taster of pony camp

Wow, another full on weekend of lessons. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has booked and rebooked with us, it is a privilege to coach all of our riders and see the progress made week on week! :)

What fabulous weather we had this weekend too, a complete turnaround from the utter washout that last weekend was, we are really lucky to have such a fabulous backdrop for our lessons 😍

As a new business the costs of setting up and running are high, we are really passionate however about making sure that our yard, the ponies and our services are open to as many members of the community as possible. One service that we are nearly ready to offer is therapeutic riding, the ponies are ready, the coaches are ready and the sensory trail is under way but we are missing one crucial piece of equipment. A suitable mounting block! We have decided to run a fundraiser specifically to help towards the cost of purchasing the block as once we have this we are ready to go!

Any help by way of donations, shares or spreading the word about what we do would be hugely appreciated. The support we have already received since opening has been overwhelming, thank you!

Do you live within 5km of the yard? Would you like the chance to come and have a one to one lesson with a pony at Maumfin? If so pop us a message and we'll get you booked in!

For the next four weeks we will be offering a limited number of 1-1 slots for anyone who is able to reach the yard. This is a great oppurtunity for those close by to meet the ponies, see the yard, develop riding and/or ground work skills or start/get back into horse riding

To round off 2020 before the Maumfin ponies take a well earned Christmas break, we would like to offer families the opportunity to come and share a Maumfin Christmas Moment. The event will take place on Sunday the 13th December with sessions throughout the day which will be allocated when you book. Each session will last 90 minutes and will include a range of outdoor Christmas themed activities, crafts in our rainbow tent and of course a chance to meet, groom and take some festive photos with the ponies in our decorated barn (tinsel may be involved!). The Maumfin donkeys and mini ponies will also be playing their part!

The cost is €25 per family group (up to four people) + €5 per extra person up to a max group size of 6.

The ponies ready and waiting last Monday morning for the start of our first pony camp.

Pony camps are suitable for children through to adults, we recommend children are 6 years+. Camps include theory and practical elements and can be tailored to each group with stable management, ground work and ridden sessions. Non ridden camps also available!

This week we started with two fantastic riders and we looked at the stable management required for pony club C tests alongside the theory behind how horses learn, as well as the importance of building connection, and how that can impact the training methods we choose. We did loads of practical work on the ground and both riders had two horses each to ride so were kept busy!

It's been a busy week here at Maumfin with some pretty wild weather but yesterday provided welcome respite for ponies and people alike.

Today we received confirmation that we are able to remain OPEN throughout level five restrictions. We are able to offer training to school age children and although training for others must be put on hold for now, we are able to offer services for all ages for those who require additional support with their mental health, this can be early intervention /preventative support as well as therapy sessions. Please get in touch if you'd like more information or to book onto a pony camp, lesson, therapeutic ride, or for a therapy session

Another busy week here at Maumfin with the team working long days but this rainbow was seen last night and helped bring a moment of calm, reflection and positivity in the midst of the busy. Working with horses can be a great way of helping us to find out own moments of calm, of learning, of awareness, of ground or development and we hope to be able to offer a safe space to find your moments through, riding, groundwork, personal development time or therapy.

Happy Monday!

It seems like this week there are a lot of changes for a lot of people as schools are back open and everyone's trying to find their feet again.

How are you finding the changes? Are you back to school/work now or have you a while longer?

Managing changes can be hugely challenging and there are some great ways of exploring how to cope with change and this is something we can certainly help with, so if you/someone you know is finding these transitions overwhelming please do get in touch!

We are lucky to have a super team of ponies lined up ready to work with us and lockdown has seen us increase our herd size significantly for various reasons. It is so lovely to have a range of horses from our minis Holly and Robyn, through to Petal our lovely cob, and an age range of 4 month Comet through to our 27yo's Blanda and Champers who have joined us from Errislannan for their retirement. We hope this variety of ponies will enable our services to be accessible to the widest range of clients possible both with ridden work as well as personal development and therapy sessions based on the ground.

Welcome to Maumfin Moments! The plan is to use this space to keep you updated on what we're doing and what we're hoping to be offering in the future. We're currently creating an Instagram challenge as part of our introductions to what we're all about so keep an eye out for that and please feel free to share this page and dm us with any questions you you may have now and in the future. We are so excited to be taking on this adventure (just wish there was less paperwork 😜).
