EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGIES ICT PROJECT FOR A CHANGE: Cage the Cruelty, Not the Animals”

INTRODUCTION
In our current age of advanced technology, social media has taken the world by storm. We are able to spread and acquire information with just a click of our finger. With Social media we are able to spread awareness and bring more attention to the many issues we are facing both in the local and international scene. With social media in everyone’s grasp, this project aims to spread awareness and strengthen the stand against all forms of abuse to animals through these platforms, specifically Facebook.
Animal abuse takes many forms and is technically codified under the catch-all definition of animal cruelty, which can entail acts of physical abuse, abandonment, neglect, or torture. The main focus of this project is to solve or exacerbate the underlying problems relating to unwanted or stray dogs and cats by raising awareness of global animal rights problems and to shed light on the plight of some of the most endangered and exploited inhabitants of the world.
This project aims to uphold the law by conducting barangay seminars that would bring this topic into strong focus for those who were ignorant of the true nature of animal cruelty around the world. Moreover, this research aims to provide simple ways to aid and promote organizations who hold the same ideals as for those who were well aware of the challenges faced by animals of all sizes and in every region.

PURPOSE
Through social media, this project aims to:
Raise awareness of animal cruelty in the local, national and even global scene
Prevent further abuse to animals and encourage people to report when such acts of animal cruelty are supported and condoned.
Promote and advocate the policies protecting animals from abuse.
Create a campaign and outreach programs that would help provide for the shelters of homeless and abused animals.
The main purpose of this project is to stop, mitigate and prevent the neglect, maltreatment and exploitation of animals by human beings, advocating “Cage the Cruelty, Not the Animals”.

DESCRIPTION
Through the use of social media, specifically Facebook, this project will spread awareness about animal cruelty by sharing infographics and articles concerning it. The page would become a place where pet owners and animal lovers can share their advocacies against the abuse of animals. This page will focus more on the sharing of stories and practices that would decrease the support on animal cruelty and encourage people to not condone when such acts are being done. Ways on how to care and nurture for animals will also be shared in this page along with the many rescue stories that would further encourage the stand against animal cruelty. It would also provide donation drives and fundraisers that help these animals a place to share their plans and encourage more people to donate and help.
Day 1: Introduction to the Issue of Animal Abuse and Cruelty
In this seminar, speakers would be introducing the issue and problems on animal cruelty and abuse, the difference between passive and active animal abuse, and how to prevent the normalizing of animal abuse.
Day 2: Demonstrating Simple ways to Care and Nurture for Animals
Speakers would be demonstrating ways on how to take better care for our pets and animals, what to do when an animal is found hurt and injured, simple ways we can help them and many more.
Day 3: Open Forum and Sharing of Experiences and Stories
Through this forum, animal rescuers, pet owners, and animal lovers in general can share their thoughts and stories on these animals and further grow their love for animals and encourage others to promote the stand against animal abuse as well.
Day 4: Take Action
Donation drives and fundraisers would be posted so people would be able to easily find and donate to these causes in a simple and hassle-free way. Animal rights organizations people can join will also be posted as well as the different outreach programs in their locality.
After this, the page will continue to advocate and promote the protection of animals from abuse by posting more rescue stories, how-to videos on caring and nurturing animals, and news or articles on animal cruelty.

SUPPORT
The project would need an estimate of Php 4,500.00 to Php 7,000.00. Included in this budget is:
food and other needs for the animals and animal shelters
Campaign and outreach program budget
Fare and snacks for the facilitators and invited speakers
Paper, printing, and other miscellaneous fees.
