Today is Spring Equinox and the gorgeous warm weather made me feel so lucky to be working with dogs every day! I can do this because my hormones are balanced, my nutrition is on point, my exercise routines are spot on, I sleep very well and I meditate and practise yoga to help navigate stress levels. I teach all of this with my coaching of menopausal Dog Professionals and I absolutely love to see women transform their lives which means they can continue to do the work they love with dogs for as long as they want and earn more money. Here’s some pictures of the dogs I have had the pleasure of loving this week because us Dog Pros can never get enough dog pictures in our lives. 🤣💚

According to research papers written by Dr Louise Newson, 39% of women taking HRT that included testosterone were able to reduce or discontinue their antidepressant meds. Among women taking pain killers, 62.1% of women reduced or discontinued use after starting HRT.

Yet only 5% of women globally take HRT. HRT is a personal choice but if a woman has done her research and wants to try HRT she should have the right to be involved in the decision with her health care professional. Antidepressants are often given instead which don’t address the root cause of menopause symptoms. Any questions on HRT or menopause please comment below. 💚

Elle Dennis failed to declare she was taking HRT when her travel policy was renewed and must now pay £28,000 for hospital treatment for a seizure (she found out that she had a grade 3 brain tumour) that was totally unrelated to her taking HRT!!! If she had declared HRT they would have insured her at no extra cost. My own medical insurance company have just added HRT to my policy today at no extra cost to me. Please, please share this everywhere so that women do not end up in Elle’s position.

Here’s a video I took at Crufts of my good friend Di Martin explaining how to get a dog to maintain a position. Thought it might be useful for all of you Dog Pros out there. 💚

I posted this on my dog business page - K9 Ventures but I thought it would be nice for you all to see too. Working with dogs can be hard work, particularly when we’re menopausal, but often we have wonderful moments that need to be shared too!

‘So my amazing assistant Bex received this beautiful present from a lovely client of ours today. Am so proud of her and the way she loves and cares for the dogs that we look after. The little dog in mind was very elderly and she nicknamed him Grandpa! When Grandpa couldn’t walk properly Bex gently carried him around the garden. When Grandpa couldn’t see properly Bex gently showed him different things he could sniff and when Grandpa needed a cuddle Bex was there every time. 💜’

Today, on International Women's Day, I am so happy to celebrate women of all ages, all across the globe. At crufts, I met the most fabulous women who embraced my vision of helping menopausal Dog Pros and I felt supported and loved, not only by those that I've known for thirty years, but from new friends that I have admired from afar until now! Di Martin from Marka Dog Training and Train With Marka, Victoria Stilwell, Steph from Mutneys Professional Pet Care Range and Sarah Whitehead were among many, many other amazing women who I chatted to about menopause, life and all things dogs. What an amazing day!

Nutrition plays a huge part in how we feel as menopausal Dog Professionals. This is my pre-prepared lunch today. Leaves, cucumber, celery, avocado, goats cheese and cantaloupe melon - all drizzled with avocado oil and sprinkled with Himalayan salt. Have a healthy breakfast to fuel up for the day, sit down at lunch time and take a well earned break and eat a healthy meal at night 2 to 3 hours before you go to bed. I try hard not to snack between meals but I do eat regularly to keep migraines at bay. If I don’t eat well, a migraine lets me know about it. Could you eat more healthily? 💚

Menopause and the Dog Professional is not JUST about menopause. It’s also about running a brilliant, heartfelt, profitable business that you can be proud of or working for someone that does. If you have run out of ideas or are struggling to get new clients through the door, have a look at this video that I have posted on my dog business page. Next week I will be cross posting it to some 20 local Facebook groups to me (taking care to post on the correct day!) to encourage dog owners to continue this vital training in their dog’s lives. Hope that helps give you an idea of how to promote your own business. Overcome your inhibitions or fear of being filmed and go for it!!! 💚

I have always loved dogs. I’ve loved everything about them from training to nursing from grooming to caring for my boarding dogs. I came across these old pictures of me with our gorgeous Retriever cross, Chip. He was named Chip because he was supposed to be a ‘chip off the old block’. He turned out to be nothing like his mum at all! He lived until he was 17 and I was 18 when he passed away. It broke my heart. Since then I’ve always had a dog in my life. 💚
