Chance and I taking our first Sunday morning walk without Milo...
Milo has always.been my shadow and it looks like he always will be, no matter how bad he is feeling. If he can't be with me he is waiting patiently for me....
Out for our Sunday morning walk.
Out for our Sunday morning walk around the property and instead of going back to the house Milo has decided he wants to go down the driveway. Maybe because down the driveway , & then down the road was part of our walks in the past. I coaxed him to go back to the house to get a K9 Kraving cookie. Long walks are hard on him now, but he would go in a second. The joints in his back legs "click" with every step, which does not appear to bother him or cause any noticable pain.
It will be 2 months since Milo was diagnosed with Lymphoma this Thursday 9/14, and next Sunday 9/17 will mark one month since Chance was diagnosed with cancer. Milo has lost a lot of muscle and weight, but he is still very active & social, and has a great appetite. Chance still seems, and looks the same other than labored breathing sometimes when he sleeps. You would never know he had anything wrong if you saw him. Chance decided to skip the walk this morning, he was hanging out with Jennifer. I'm sure he will go with us later...
Milo took a downturn this weekend and would not eat anything. By Sunday he didn't even want to get up to go outside, I was carrying him up the stairs to the front door when he came back in. His lymph nodes were the size of eggs on his throat and tennis ball size on his chest.
Jennifer called me at work on Monday, we thought he would be gone this week. I came home when she called and gave him Prednizone that we got from his regular vet. By Monday evening his lymph nodes were shrinking, appetite was back and he was active again. Today I can barely feel the lymph nodes on his neck and chest. We had a consultation with his holistic veterinarian and are going to wean him off of the Prednizone, add another suppliment and continue the Mistletoe injections which we never stopped.
This is a very aggressive cancer and it is hard to watch Milo go through it. Today is a blessing and we will continue to fight the good fight with him. We will do what needs to be done to keep this boy comfortable and who knows what might happen...
Milo didn't want to eat anything all day, so, we are on our way to Chick-Fil-A for a Friday evening treat. He loves to go for rides which makes it even better for him...
Big day today for Milo, seems like he is up for it. He actually took me to the end of the driveway and started walking down the road...
Sunday morning walk after breakfast, Milo has energy this morning and we took advantage of it.
Another good evening for Milo after a slower start to the day.
Fighting cancer one day at a time...
Someone is feeling better. He took a leisurely stroll around the front yard by himself smelling everything. Evidently it is time to go in now...🙂
Chance demonstrating his next level fake "I'm sleeping, leave me alone " technique.
I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks! If the result is getting a treat, Chance will follow Milo's lead anytime.
Milo doesn't seem to care about the bird dive bombing him...
No matter what I am doing Milo wants to be there.
Video - Jax came to visit for a few days but evidently he didn't want to be downstairs alone on the first morning while I went to work. This is what I found at lunch time, his eyes give him away!
