We’re experimenting in the kitchen! We dehydrated our microgreens (radish, pea, sunflower and leeks), then ground them into a delicious and nutritious spice mix. 👩🏼‍🍳 🌱😄

Hello TLC friends! 👋🏼
We are still new to the wonderful world of microgreens so we are trying some new techniques.

We are shaking things up in this test batch by:
1. Using soil instead of water only in the hopes of increasing nutrients.
2. Adding weights. These bad boys are pumping iron 🏋🏽‍♂️ to ensure the roots grow into the soil and hopefully to help the plant shed its’ seed hull.

💬 Share with us any experience you have using weights and if it worked for you!

“The researchers looked at four groups of vitamins and other phytochemicals – including vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene — in 25 varieties of microgreens. They found that leaves from almost all of the microgreens had four to six times more nutrients than the mature leaves of the same plant. But there was variation among them – red cabbage was highest in vitamin C, for instance, while the green daikon radish microgreens had the most vitamin E.”

Meet our co-founders Tami and Bender!

Tami and Bender were first introduced to microgreens in 2018 at the in Richardson, TX. They were intrigued because the microgreens were harvested live, looked great and tasted delicious!

After doing some research, they learned that microgreens are fairly easy to grow but require an earnest time commitment. At that time, they had a thriving entertainment business (Clowning Around) and didn’t have the time required to grow microgreens.

Fast forward to 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has essentially halted the entertainment industry. Because they find themselves with a lot of time on their hands and eager to learn a new skill, Tami and Bender turned to microgreens to grow a new business. They created which we lovingly refer to as TLC, because after all, growing microgreens requires tender loving care.

I was looking up things to plant in an outside garden during COVID-19. Wasn't most every one?

These tiny plants pack more nutritional value than the full-grown plant. That’s why some call it a super food! 🦸🏻‍♀️🦸🏽 Now there are several varieties and nutrients vary depending on the variety (broccoli vs radish micro greens). It’s safe to say any meal is enhanced when you add micro greens!
