🌊 Does your pup have a life jacket?

☀️ If your dog likes to swim or you're vacationing at the lake or taking your pup on a boat, make sure you have a life jacket for them!

Even if pups are great swimmers, it's best to keep them protected in case anything happens that throws them off or they just get tired.

Plus, it allows you to spot them quickly in case you need to remove them from the water!

Here's the recipe ⤵️

Ingredients:
¼ cup pumpkin puree
¼ cup finely shredded carrots
¼ cup unsweetened apple sauce
1 large egg (beaten)
½ cup quick-cooking oats
¾ cup almond flour

Directions:
• Preheat your Dash Express Dog Treat Maker (get one on Amazon at the link in bio!)
• Combine pumpkin, carrots, apple sauce, and egg in bowl. Whisk until combined.
• Mix in oats and add in flour until a soft slightly sticky dough forms
• Roll a walnut size piece of dough into a 3-inch log and place in the biscuit shape. • • Fold in the ends and lightly press to fill the end of the biscuit bone shape. Fill all 8 biscuit shapes.
• Close the lid and bake for 4 minutes.
• Open the lid. Use plastic tongs to flip the biscuits and bake an additional 4 minutes.
• Treats should be dark brown and firm when pressed. Bake longer if needed
• Transfer biscuits to wire cooling rack until completely cooled.

But remember that when it comes to dogs and cats, 1+1=6! They don't add, they multiply. ❤️️

5 Reasons to have your 🐱🐶 spayed or neutered:
1. Lowers risk of many types of cancer
2. Prevents pet overpopulation
3. Reduces aggression
4. Decreases roaming
5. Reduces spraying or marking (maybe even stop completely)

🧸️ Get some new toys!

Getting some new toys for your pets helps keep them engaged and entertained.

For 🐶, try puzzle toys or treat-dispensing toys that encourage problem-solving and keep them mentally stimulated. Stuffies are great, too! (Especially for sharing with your little bro!)

For 😺, consider toys that mimic prey-like movements, like a durable feather wand.

Outdoor tips for your furbabies! ☀️

🪲 Make sure your dog or cat is current on flea, tick, parasite, and heartworm prevention medication. Bugs and insects are excited about spring, too.

🐕 Check that your harnesses, leashes, and collars are in good condition and the right size. Walks and outdoor excursions can be less frequent in the winter months. Growing pets or those that put on a few extra pounds may need new or adjusted gear.

🤧 If your pet has allergies in the spring, stock up on your medication to prevent a delay in getting that itch under control. Dogs with seasonal allergies can receive a Cytopoint injection before the itching occurs and prevent skin and ear infections.

🐶 Speaking of ears… It’s a good time for a spring cleaning grooming session. Trim nails, brush or clip hair, and clean those ears so your pet is ready for all the fun warm-weather adventures.

🏡 Check windows, screens, fence gates, and areas at the base of fences for security. Make sure everything is in good repair and ready for your kitties to enjoy some screen time at the window and dogs to see their puppy neighbors.

🌷 Prepare the yard for full-time adventure. Fill holes, pick up sticks, secure nails or loose deck boards, and start treating your yard with a pet-safe yard spray to keep fleas, mosquitos, and ticks away—I love Benesafe Solutions !

Here are a few ways you can enjoy spending time with your dogs & cats in the spring (and keep them happy, healthy & entertained)!

🌳 Have some outdoor adventures!

Go on a hike, visit a dog park, or simply go for a stroll around the neighborhood. Outdoor activities provide mental and physical stimulation for both cats and dogs. I love a bubble backpack for kitties!

🌷 Do a little gardening!

Involve your pets in gardening activities—indoor or outdoor. Create a dog-friendly outdoor garden with safe plants for them to explore, or designate a small area where they can dig and play. Or create a small indoor garden where your kitties can admire the greenery.

Here are a few ways to bond with your pet in the SPRING! 🌷

💙 Schedule a shopping date.
Visit pet-friendly stores for some mental and physical stimulation. Pups love to help select flowers, and the , here in the Columbus, OH area, is a great place to enjoy some shopping time.

💙 Fill the bird feeders.
Cats LOVE to watch birds. Pair this with a window perch inside for hours of fun for your cat (and you!)

💙 Have a photo shoot.
You aren’t the only one who looks great in pictures with the rich colors of spring. While shopping, pick up some new spring gear and make some memories.

💙 Create an agility course.
Inside or outside, this is a great activity for sunny and rainy days. Did you know cats love agility? Maybe even more than dogs.

💙 Take a vacation.

Just learning new things over here...

Training is SOOOO good for pups!

🐾 Improved behavior: Training helps dogs learn key commeands such as sitting, staying, walking on a leash, and coming when called, so you can prevent unwanted behaviors like jumping on people, excessive barking, or pulling on the leash.

🐾 Better communication: When dogs understand commands and cues, they'll better understand what is expected of them and respond accordingly. This clear communication fosters trust and strengthens the relationship between dogs and pawrents.

🐾 Mental stimulation and enrichment: Learning new commands and tricks challenges their cognitive abilities and keeps their minds engaged. This mental stimulation is especially important for preventing boredom and behavioral issues in dogs, as it channels their energy into constructive activities.

And best yet... training sessions offer opportunities for bonding and positive reinforcement—building the relationship between dogs and pawrents. 💕

🔹Young Pets
Get annual checkups for routine dental hygiene to start good habits at the outset. Your veterinarian will check for any retained baby teeth or misalignments and help you understand any genetic predispositions of your pet.

🔹Middle-Aged Pets
Pets between the ages of 4 and 9 years are at a critical phase for dental problems that will continue to get worse (and more expensive). Now is the time to ask if your pet’s diet changes may help reduce future dental disease.

🔹Senior Pets
To increase your pet’s quality of life, you may introduce a prescription diet to reduce plaque and tartar buildup and provide dental chews at home to help clean teeth.

Tip: Remember that dogs and cats both have high pain thresholds and will continue to eat even when they’re in pain, so that’s not a reliable indicator of dental decay.
